currently using M1 broadband which comes with my home telephone num
what will happen to my home telephone num if i move to simba?

In this case, just forget about SIMBA if you need digital voice. Stay with M1.

My summary here.

Most of the modern ones should work. You may check with your CCTV vendor to see if they work under CGNAT.

If the CCTV solution still needs port forwarding, then it will not work.

But I guess no point to subscribe to SIMBA for mission critical use cases like a CCTV, since we still need more reports to see if SIMBA is stable or not. And from the previous two posts the support is not that good when there is an issue.
Using it for home cctv...brand is tp-link

Is it really CCTV? Or just small TP-Link Tapo security camera? For Tapo no problems with CGNAT. No idea about your CCTV system. You can always ask TP-Link. As mentioned, most of modern system should have no issues.

The main issue is the stability and technical support. The reports here seem to indicate the support is not good. And stability is not proven yet, even though I have seen quite some good reports on the 10Gbps plan side.

https://support.simba.sg/hc/en-us/articles/26550052703001-Is-there-an-Early-Termination-Fee-ETF

You will be charged for the remaining 30-Day cycles if you wish to cancel our service within the 360-day contract period.

Not too bad i guess. Although its a bit vague they could mean all the remaining cycles... i.e. you still pay 1 yr worth.

I actually read that way, it says the remaining 30-Day cycles. Not 30-Day cycle. I think basically you have to pay in full.

Anyway, can always check with SIMBA.

The general terms and conditions seem to indicate full payment.
https://simba.sg/static/media/FBBTerms.92a596cc.pdf
10.6.1.
The Customer shall be liable to pay SIMBA the following:-
a) All the Charges up to and including the date of such termination;
b) Any early termination charges for the remainder of the Service Term/Minimum Contract Period if the Customer terminates the Services before the expiry of the Service Term/Minimum Contract Period or if SIMBA terminates the Services in accordance with Clause 10.1 of these Terms and Conditions; and
c) Any documented Third-Party Charges or expenses incurred by SIMBA in respect of the terminated Service;

2.5Gbps plan or 10Gbps plan?

What kind router are you using?

Wired slow speed or wireless slow speed?

How do you test?

How slow?
My connections all WiFi using old Asus 1gb router from M1:
Redmi K20 400 plus, Google pixel 4a high 300 to low 400plus, Huawei 11.5 and Huawei 11 tablets 300 - 400 plus, Redmi note pro 250 plus, iPhone 14 Pro Max high 400 plus, Huawei P60 pro 660 plus.

All normal lah, limited by 1Gbps router even for wired speed.

What is your router used? M1 RT-AC2600? Or M1 Asus RT-AX3000P?

If using RT-AC2600 or older, they have already EOLed by Asus, no more security updates, better to change to new router.

You have to upgrade your router to enjoy higher wired and wireless speed. Say a 2.5Gbps capble router. Can be very cheap (below S$200) if you with China routers without local warranty.

Eg: Asus TX-AX6000, Xiaomi BE6500 Pro, ZTE BE7200 Pro+, Asus TUF BE6500, etc.

But if you need local version, you can go with Asus TUF-AX4200 (single 2.5G port), TUF-AX6000 (dual 2.5G ports) or GT-AX6000 (about S$360 BNIB from Carousell, 2nd unit even cheaper, flagship WiFi 6 router, dual 2.5G ports), depending on your budget.

My router is RT-AX55. How much increment can WiFi go? My devices are mostly old ones. Not sure if there's ANY significant benefits. Maybe the Huawei phone and laptop will benefit the most.

I see. RT-AX55 is rated at AX1800. Good thing is that it is still supported by Asus.

You may not see much improvement if you upgrade to a better router for WiFi 5 (AC) devices. Even for your iPhone 14 Pro Max, it is not a very good WiFi 6 client (only support 80MHz channel bandwidth). The best client is your Huawei P60 Pro which supports 160MHz channel bandwidth.

If you are happy with the current WiFi speed, just keep using the RT-AX55. Personally I do not recommend using RT-AX55 or RT-AX3000P as the main router since they only have 256MB RAM. But if you do not have many devices, you may well be okay.

For mobile phones, usually 100Mbps is good enough, no need to worry much.

But if you have wired device like laptop or desktop, especially 2.5G capable ones, highly recommend to upgrade. USB 3.0 to 2.5G adapters are pretty cheap now.
