I tried on 3 mobile phones and it did not work. Can I just have a quick check it is not required to top up the account in order to have telco signal right since it did work previously. I took the sim out for a few months as I was not using them and the signal didn't return even I insert it on the mobile that was working fine previously.
Did you check on app or website that your account is still active? If your billing cycle is 3 Feb, when was the previous payment date? Should be last Friday or Saturday right?

If last payment was successful, check on app or website that your 1GB roaming data is still available. If your monthly allocation of 1GB roaming data already fully utilized, you will need to top up your account and have positive $ balance before they let you continue to roam with charge.

Singtel selected Ericsson for 5G, both Starhub and M1 selected Nokia, what about Simba? Which vendor does Simba work with? Please advise me. TIA!

I would think it is suitable for very senior retirement folks who don't need high speed connection but want very cheap price. Mostly they coffeeshop or home base using it eg watching YouTube with 5Mbps
Unless you are using the line as a hotspot for 3+ persons, all streaming 4K videos to their 4K TVs, nobody needs that kind of speed. 10Mbps is more than sufficient to stream HD video on your Retina display iPad*. The big numbers on speedtest.net is pretty much just good for /flex than any real world application.

(* in fact Netflix & Disney+ both recommend 5Mbps as the minimum for HD streaming)

Rather, I would say if the areas you frequent have good coverage by SIMBA, it's a great value plan & the speed is fast enough to do just about anything you would want to do on a mobile device. But it is also true that it's coverage is still behind the traffic light telcos, esp in buildings. The usual advice, that you should get a new line, try it out for a month first, before deciding whether to port over. Just costs you $10 & save you a lot of frustrations & inconvenience later on if it doesn't work out.

You clearly didn't read the FAQ before roaming.

You need to insert the SIMBA SIM for at least 48h before departure, and be in SIMBA coverage most if not all the time during that period.

Can I check with you guys do you need to top up for data roaming in order for your phone to have telco signal oversea? It was working fine previously when I used it oversea without topping any value. I only need it for sms and calls yet it suddenly has got no signal. When I contact SIMBA they tell me need to top up for data to get telco signal.
How long ago was the "previously" lol

Every operator also have unstable / poor network. This is the fact about radio networks.

Let's just say only SIMBA 50GB SIM Only Plan doesn't get deprioritized, unlike the other two that you mentioned. If you read before other posts in the forum, you'll know what I mean. ;)

Every telco receive complaints on network strength & coverage, some get more and some less. No one teclo can please everyone, just select the one that suits your daily routine & budget.

Simba is my main data line and no major issue so far. Can be slow in some places (when compare to Singtel & Starhub) but it works better than MyRepublic in my case. Fit for purpose and value for money at $5 / 20GB.

$5 Senior Plan no horse run, but for the rest of us on $10, there’s a lot of choice in the market now, Simba might not be the best for all.

It was already roaming ready and I was using it oversea 2months back. The plan was already taken up since August and working fine. I took it out since I have no use at that point and last week it shows no signal at all. I am not even using data at all, I off the cellular data.

What is the APN Setting for SIMBA?

  • Updated
Here are the settings:
  • APN: TPG
  • Everything else, leave blank
If your phone has a configuration parameter for IP PROTOCOL (or similar), please select IPv4/IPv6 instead of just IPv4.

If I don't select IPv4/IPv6, what will happen? Please advise me. TIA!
