Indeed. The was a time the latest Singpass update could detect all kind of Magisk hide, so most of us had to downgrade Singpass to the earlier version (and use Detach) while waiting for a new fix. Singpass countered that by disallowing running old versions and forcing app update. I was out from the earlier round, so I'm not sure how other people cope with it that time.
For me, Singpass is not a must to have, and for other banking apps they're much easier to deal with compared with Singpass, but in the worst case I can always fall back to the physical token.
It has always been 'a game of cat-and-mouse' (quoted Magisk developer), and the difficulty level keeps increasing constantly not only by app developers but also by phone makers and Google itself.
Off-topic: There's another thread (also at HWZ) discussing about the status of physical tokens after the banks decide to stop issuing hardware token and switch to digital token. There are many opposing ideas, but my opinion is that the bank must provide physical token for free if customer requests, and digital token is an opt-in service. There's no rule saying the bank's customer must own a smartphone capable of running the banking app. Think about elderly people. Think about minimalists who use feature phones. The banks can't cut cost by sacrificing customers' rights. Unless they decide to shoo away those customers.
