Thanks for all Bros advice. The ST tech came and solved the issue. He activated "forget my wifi" and turned off wifi on the android box and reset the android box and after that Singtel TV can work, He said the android box cannot work properly with Singtel TV when its wifi is turned on. He confirmed that if use 3rd party router, only LAN 4 port can work for Singtel TV.

I tried but my parents find it hard to navigate the smarter apps and like the Taiwanese dramas from Singtel TV. Parents are happy so my life is happy too haha.

Cannot use wifi. the wifi was the one causing the problem. Have to use LAN port 4 only.

Thanks a lot for the updates.

Conclusion:
Singtel Android TV box still needs VLAN ID 20, same as the existing Singtel TV Box.

You have to set up Singtel VLAN if you use ONT and your own router (eg: Asus).

If you use ONR or ONT plus Singtel issued router, SingTel ONR and/or SingTel issued router will handle VLAN for you. No need extra settings.

It is just a matter of time that both will complete do away the old TV box say within 2-3 years. Fibre TV box is using other server which cost more. One day they will sure terminate the service of the old server.
Don't worry.i already subscribed to SH homehub+ ultraspeed paying $110 per mth .highest tier liao .i starhub supporter .BTW max where got $9 for 24 mth.its $14.48 for hbo max pack

1) For users who use ONT plus Asus router, the following guide for the existing Singtel TV Set-top box is still valid if you use Singtel's new Android TV Box.

2) For Singtel router users, the following guide for the existing Singtel TV Set-top box is still valid if you use Singtel's new Android TV Box.

As per the report on 10-Dec-2024, Singtel has stopped to offer recontract of ONT based legacy plans. Therefore in the future all plans will use ONR and you have to connect the Singtel TV Box (legacy box or the new Android TV box) to the ONR to have best compatibility. It is possible to use selected 3rd party router in AP mode as well.

Singtel ONR --> Singtel TV box
Singtel ONR --> Singtel issued wireless router (automatically run in AP mode) --> Singtel TV Box
Singtel ONR --> Linksys E9450 in AP mode --> Singtel TV Box
Singtel ONR --> Netgear Orbi in AP mode --> Singtel TV Box

1) Reference from Netgear Singapore.
https://netgearstore.sg/blogs/knowledge-base/orbi-singtel-tv-vlan-tag
ONR_grande.png

2) Reference: no more recontract with Singtel ONT based legacy plan.
https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/threads/singtel-1-gbps-fibre.5930834/page-253

Continued after 24Hrs...

"Hi there! This is XXX from Home Department. Apologies, we no longer provide ONT. All of our broadband plans come with ONR.

Unfortunately, we do not provide for recontract as well. For recontract, if it's 2gbps, we only provide wireless router/mesh. If it's 5/10gbps, then we provide XGSPON ONR (which supports 5/10gb network)."

So...ITE liao! Not sure if Home Dept is related to retention dept or not though.

Okay, I believe this is the final answer already. The Home Department is supposed to be related to the Retention Department.

So I guess it is the time for users who want to continue using Singtel ONT plus their own router to prepare to move out of Singtel.

For Singtel users who use Singtel ONT plus Singtel issued router, they should have no issues to upgrade to Singtel 2Gbps plan with ONR (or newer 3Gbps/5Gbps/10Gbps plan with XGS-PON ONR).

You are right. Actually I don’t watch football nor simi TVB. Knowing StarHub (from the old days), I rather pay $6 to Netflix than to pay $4 to StarHub. lol! Today if my wife and I are free, we will watch amdk channel like Netflix, Disney and the PRC channels (wetv etc). All pay direct to them.
20 years ago when such illegal android TV box just came to Singapore, many of them selling it but after 5 years they all disappeared from the market and many Singaporeans are well educated and do not want to buy illegal TV box. When Netflix first came into Singapore, their basic SD plan is only $7/mth but when business became good, price increased a lot. Now Netflix no longer allow VPN and their Plans range from $13.98 to $25.98 a month. I am on Netflix Premium FOC which is $25.98. I still have VIu Premium FOC and BBC player FOC too and each of them will cost $8 so actually buying from SH is much cheaper. Disney+ Premium also FOC and it is now $18 if buy from App. See the link below.

https://www.netflix.com/sg/

Watch Netflix on your smartphone, tablet, smart TV, laptop or streaming device, all for one fixed monthly fee. Plans range from $13.98 to $25.98 a month. No extra costs, no contracts.

TVB is Hong Kong Show.

Yes I am on the same plan but at $88.70 as i signed up during 2023. Next year I will recontract. I got to change from ONR to ONT with TP-Link WiFi 7 BE810v Router at a reduced price. My review is very good la. If your TV is big then watch F1 or football is nice. Max got 24 months contract.

SH is cheaper if you look at Singtel price. Very expensive and no free Apps. Not recommended.

Yes I do agreed that singtel price is always the most expensive among the telcos like when they have EPL rights that few years , they push out very exorbitant prices for consumers to sign up. During that few long years where singtel have the epl rights, I did not watch football as I do not want to pay those chop carrot prices to them ..

This is box rental fee and they are moving towards android TV box and not forcing you to sign. For Starhub the price included the TV box rental for some plan.

It is because you are not using android TV box so must pay more. Just change to android TV box to save money.
Still not tempted to change. Currently enjoying 50% off everything.

Currently paying $7.58 (rental) + $5.03 (additonal 3 device streaming) = $12.61
After new increase of STB rental = $13.52

New Android STB
$3.01 (rental) + $3.49 (additonal 1 device streaming) + $5.49 (300hrs cloud DVR) = $11.99

I save $1.53 if i switch to the new Android STB but i lose out on additonal 2 device streaming and lesser DVR hours than my current DVR STB.

Not switching until they shut down IPTV. Besides IPTV offers a better experience than the OTT Android STB.

Singtel plan is so strange. offer 50% forever? Then no point taking android TV box. At Starhub homehub+ ultra speed all in one (old plan), Starhub claimed 60% off. New plan 50% off. $115/mth for all in one. Got $60/mth for homehub+ 5Gbps Sports bundle.
