I read somewhere here is power off-wait-on the AC plus &/or the ONT/ONR to get the firmware pushed to u.

Can call ST too IIRC.

How it be updated when it's switched off

Not sure if it normal, but my wifi speed drop to around 80 Mpbs when i disable it. Before that was in 200 mpbs range

I didn't test for my speed when I have band steering on, but my typical speed on WiFi with band steering off is around 110Mbps.

Band steering steers the devices into bands automatically, which it might have allocated 5Ghz for your device. 80mbps is likely due to 2.4Ghz.

You might wanna Change your ssid for 5Ghz which is different from 2.4Ghz so that your device don’t get confused with 2.4Ghz.

ABC-24

XYZ-5

so I can tell which band easily.

oh no wonder, thanks for the clarification. I must say the 5 GHz signal coverage for this AC router is pretty decent as compare to my old singtel router model where I only manage to get intermediate connection nia for 5 Ghz

misery starts when singtel took back the old router....

current setup: Ericsson ONT, AC Elite (AC1900)....

ONT > AC Elite
> LAN 1 MioTV

Sitting right in front of router with S8/i6/i7, did a speed test: 84mb down/44mb up...

pls dun give those thick-skulled singtel cso's scripted replies... reli enuff of their crap...

Is band steering turned on for the AC Elite? It could mean the devices are connected to the 2.4GHz channel.

fussier and savvier users, recommendation is to manage the networks yourself and ensure that your performance-critical devices are connected to the faster 5GHz network.

cat 5e wired connection to desktop drops to 50mb down/ 300mb up....

nt sure wat happens, after 1 day of 450mb down, 2nd day of usage drops to 50mb speed, 10% of my 500mb fibre plan...

Test with a different speed test server?

WIFI depends more on your device you testing on, interference, and obstacles around your house.

your speed is probably normal. You are not going to get 1gbps out of WiFi

maybe can tell us what device you use to test, so that we can roughly tell you the peak speed of it?
