ah.. we are about the same age.. i'm 49
not sure if you experience the same.. easy to fall asleep but keep waking in middle of night, sleep gets interrupted throughout basically.

i run very regularly.. like 5 days a week.
try to refrain from using device a couple of hours before bed and in bed
avoid caffeine after 2pm if you have trouble falling asleep
hit the bed early cause if you are going to get patchy sleep, at least patchy over a longer duration

maybe you can check if your room temp/humidity may be causing it?
Run 5 days a week, I don't have the same discipline. Too tired after work. my problem is ually sleep a few hours then wake up, cannot get back to sleep, turn and toss around. Or sleep for 30 min or 1 hour then time to wake up.

Not humid, aircon still good. I go to bed earlier since I feel sleepy anyway at around 8, 9pm

Oh ya, try taking magnesium.

Melatonin is more of a sleep-regulating hormone, personally don't dare take any medicine affect the hormone.

And don't put your smartphone near your sleeping area, i notice ever since i put my smartphone somewhere further, my sleep had improved.
Got any brand to recommend? I need to put near my bed coz I can hit the snooze button easily sometimes lol

Recently for the past few months, I also keep having sleeping problems. Like I can’t get into deep sleep mode or I will wake up in the middle of the night then very difficult to get back into sleep. Maybe it’s anxiety or work stress or getting old. I was quite bothered by this as it’s affecting my work in the day.

Then I went to see my usual GP and he prescribed me zopiclone. I tried taking half tablet before sleep, this helps but I scare will get addicted.

So I went to find some things that will help and I found this Labo Nutrition Sleep DR. It contains Glycine, natural GABA and L-theanine and 1 sachet before sleep helps me sleep better at night too.

I try don’t take any of these on Fridays and Saturdays night as I don’t want to be too reliant on them.
How long you been taking this? You notice any side effect? You get to sleep through the whole night?

Sounds like a aimless rich man problem. Not tired enough from everyday work. No stress from work. No need to take care of aged parents. No need to take care of kids....

Get a girlfriend and you should get tired much more and fall asleep easily. Girlfriend became wife, more busy with buying properties, buying cars, then have few babies, have to wake up 3 times every night to feed babies...all your insomnia problem resolved.

Thank me later.
Lol I also wish I have a gf. I don't mind experiencing all this with the girl I like. I'm tired from work every night though and stressed at work, just that I don't bring the stress home and definately not work if I can.

Same — as I get older, it’s really hard to get proper sleep.

Also, what I eat affects it a lot. I’ve noticed that if I have a high-sodium diet that day, I wake up feeling very tired and thirsty the next morning.

I just ordered some magnesium; hopefully it’ll help improve my sleep.
If I eat too much sodium, I end up v thirsty and keep going toilet. so I avoid eating too salty food for dinner / drink too much before sleep.

The zopiclone very good, half a tablet can sleep through the night and not drowsy the next day. For the other one, most of the time can sleep through but sometimes will still wake up earlier. Both can solve my problem very well compared to those days where I can’t sleep well a lot of times.

All good except a few. 4) i eat dinner at 7+ after work, feel sleepy at 8+ 9pm. 7) I have no chance to do that on weekday. 8) I haven't read a book for years lol.

Gone to bed so early at 8-9pm ? That's just 1 hour after eating. This is too short.

Then what happens after sleeping early ? You didn't manage to sleep all the way till morning ?

Yes, I like to try out new recipes. But not easy to cook after work on weekday. by the time i get home, it's late evening...
sorry to say, there's no luxury of time to explore many "secret" recipes. Speed is the key. The food must be ready in 10-15 mins max while you shower and get ready.
If too tedious, you sure give up cooking sooner or latter.
I've tried steaming everything, from wagyu or normal grass fed beef, any kinds of fish and vege, they all cooked within 10-15mins. Add some seasoning of your choice, they taste good enough, not too fancy.

Nowadays I feel sleepy when it's just 8 plus 9pm. Don't know if it's coz older now. Last time can sleep for 8 hours or more. Now if I go to bed earlier, I wake up after a few hours then cannot sleep. If I went gym or v tired from work, can sleep for only an hour or two hours more.

I try taking melatonin but don't really work after a while. Anyone like that also? Any suggestion?
bro, how about change your schedule like go to gym?

i can never exercise and then expect to have a good sleep at night.

use to be when i was teen, i play soccer all day, or go gym carry weights, go home feeling sore n aches, at night slept like a log

but now that i aged, even abit of exercise that make me sweat n rise the heart beat for more than 15 mins, at night i super awake instead of sleepy.
