Maybe you guys try restoring the phone to default factory to a totally fresh new 8.1? That's what I always do it there's update.. To clear up the junk inside the phone maybe? I haven't tried yet though..

For th 6+ users, did you guys update through OTA or iTunes?

I did mine via OTA. Battery life does not seems affected. And I'm on constant Bluetooth connection with Pebble Watch.
Usual drainage of 40% for 5 hours of use.
In other words, I'm left with 60% after 5 hours of usage, connected to Pebble.

Everything will get better once the developers update their apps and iOS 8.2 and 3 rolls out.

Right now its like old programs running on a new OS> give it time.

Gonna do that tonight. Reformat my phone and reinstall everything. Very tedious but I think it's better this way.

Did anyone else keep receiving the dictation prompts? Even when I click "not now" the prompt will come back later or on other apps. Can't find this in settings to disable it totally. Irritating

you mean don't restore from previous iCloud backup?

Ya. Usually I don't backup. I don't have important stuff that I need to back up on my phone. My photos usually I will periodically transfer to my mac and then delete. Music, can also put back. Email, notes, remainders, calendars are all already synced to iCloud.

Messages and stuff to me not that important. Not like you all will read back 1 year ago message. Idk why people love to import their chat history back.

the multi-task gesture still buggy in 8.1~:s13:

but the workaround still exist so not deal breaker

Oh ok. What about vpn? U guys dun use onavo at all? I find that it helps me save a lot of data usage. When I was on ios8, vpn doesn't work, data usage very high, downgrade back to 7.1.2 and install back onavo, data usage not as high already. This vpn bug is what holding me back to upgrade to 8.1

Can I confirm did anyone went with this route?

Existing ipad/iphone on ios 7.1.2... did full backup

Use this full backup to restore to NEW ipad/iphone that is on ios 8.1.

I believe it is possible but would like check if anyone successfully upgrade their device through this way. Thank you!

Made used of my Applecare support...

Yes, it is been confirmed by the Apple Support that you can use the backup from ios 7.1.2 and restore to ios 8.1 device.

Yup dont restore anything. Before you restore the only thing you need to do is screen shot all of your apps and home pages so u know what apps u have. Then plug your phone into com, extract "camera roll/recently added" out and make it into a new iTunes photo album. So when u sync your phone you will get back your "camera roll" which is a "new" photo album now. Then refer to the screen shot you took earlier to download all your apps back.. You might be surprised that you might even skip some useless apps..

That's what I usually do.. Just my 2 cents :)
