U r probabaly served by part timers or staffs at 313 who have no ideas what they are selling. The differences bwt X9300C and X8500C are not just aesthetic. U can compare both models at sony.com.sg.

X9300C is equipped with much better speaker and come with full array local dimming. X8500C is not

The picture quality is also better cause using a better technology. The screen as well. Its using the gorilla glass screen panel.

I asked before at Sony 313 and they told the only difference between between X8500c and X9300c is the super thin bezel, else everything is the same.

Best price I asked for the 65" JS9000 is about $54xx before the trade in of the 40" UHD TV. IF can get at $48xx after trade in, very likely I will go for it.

Samsung does not come with 3d glasses and wall mount. And i brought the x9300c at a price below the js9000. The sony x9300c comes with in build sound system, you dont need to buy additional sound bar. Less cable and neater.

The sony x8500c is a different comparison to the x9300c.

Is there a short-cut key settings for all the 4HDMI, without pressing the HOME, scroll down to select any of the HDMIs? Would be good just set one key button on the remote and straight away change to any of the HDMIs we wanted to watch.

Each input has its own discrete IR signal code - just that the standard remote provided doesn't has buttons to send these codes.

I'm using a Logitech Harmony remote which allows direct input selection.

Perhaps the Sony TV SideView remote app may be able to switch inputs directly too - haven't tried it yet.

still not as quick as using a programmable remote key but one of the intended way is using the input button on the supplied remote control. The button's icon label looks like an arrow pointing toward a square. Use up/down & enter buttons to select. Yeah, still kind of like selecting input from the Home menu..

The assignable 4 color shortcut/favorite buttons seem to be meant for tv channels only. Will have to find out more and see what are the other features possible.

The colored buttons are also great for KODI... use the keymap editor addon.

I already set my mind on the JS9000 after months of research and price comparison. I have a reasonable home theatre system so TV speakers is not my considering priority.

Good idea. TV from the w80 series (and the Kodi app) cope with many video contents quite well (wired or wireless), except for more difficult content like fhd videos at really high bitrates - the playback (even over wired connection) gets choppy from time to time. Taking a look at the system info inside Kodi and it becomes clear that the tv works really hard at playing back some of the videos.

And I have yet figure out the default way of bringing up context menu in kodi app, ended up adding some custom keymap xml, reassigning a button on a remote - some unexpected hoops to jump through just to get a basic function leh.

And the Bravia Sync, and the HDMI control of all the devices.. All the auto on/off/standby and etc are driving me crazy, often the devices will on/off/switch inputs when I don't want them to, ended up turning all off (and lose ARC for the tv programs.. sigh..). HDMI-CEC across devices from different makers sucks.

Do u all find the tv remote control becoming unresponsive very frequently? I have to remove the battery . Knock the controller a few times to make it work again. Should I call sony service centre?

It might be the TV that is not responsive - have you tried rebooting it to see if it helps?

What I have installed:
- KODI (great for catching up on US TV series)
- HAL Launcher (to launch side-loaded apps)
- Remote Desktop (side-loaded, for work and web browsing)
- TuneIn (listen to radio while using remote desktop)
- Chrome (sideloaded, hardly use it though, too clunky and sluggish - prefer to use Chrome in the remote desktop)

Yes. Switch off the tv main power supply off and on helps but then the problem will still come back.

I just want to kniw whether it is a common issue or my tv really got the problem. So far my tv also updated the latest firmware.

There r actually many apps that u can use to stream and watch shows, best that u download Shafa launcher and market to go through these apps.

U can also download CloudTV for some overseas channels.

Best denki is also selling it on LAST MONTH sept comex show. U can try to get the courts price printout to see whether they can match the pricing. Another place u can try is mustafa.

Some retailers get the stock from Sony warehouse and some has it on their own inventory. The price of $3999 is really very good.
