Thanks for the update. The 77 inch Sony is what I am eyeing for too.
It's nice to know that it has some of the features from the A90J. May I know how much you paid for it?

Bro, u r damn good. Actually Sony display set is a steal because they give 3 years warranty for display set also. Regardless whether they put there for 4 weeks or 20 weeks, bo taiji if you got 3 years warranty. Samsung display set only 1 year warranty. They know panel can’t last
I also think he got a great deal... especially given the time he got it... it is still too early to give good pricing... maybe BD jus started to clear for new models...

Now price for new units is like $2899. Not sure how worthwhile is it. Haha!

Sony should build an option to turn off Dolby Vision in their settings. Chromecast with Google TV can control if I want Dolby Vision along with the show.

actually i went to Sony flagship store at Wisma prior to my purchase where they already have 90J and 95H. I ask the sales for the comparison. Apparently their views are they still prefer the quality of H series than the new one... so to each his own...

90j and 95H will be more expensive right? Just like why many prefer Samsung 70/80R to 70/80T

Can agree on this, I compared the X95H to the X90J and X900H and preferred the X95H as well. I think its because the X95H has around 48 local dimming zones while both the X90J and X900H has only 24 local dimming zones.

Based on the side-by-side comparison, the X95H can get significantly brighter in HDR content than both the X90J and X900H. Refer to the HDR peak brightness section:

Preordered the Sony 85X9000H. The 85X85J is non full array and the 85X95J will likely be premium priced. Seems like the big retailers like Denki and Harvey Norman are more careful not to carry excess stocks for the older larger TV nowadays, so less chances of lelong when the new bigger TVs arrive.

Using both Nvidia Shield TV and Chromecast with Google TV. Don't find much difference between Android TV and Google TV actually. Recently Apple TV+ was made available on Chromecast with Google TV and that was a bonus.
Hey I’m also looking at this model but seemed OOS everywhere. Any idea where to get this from and how much were you quoted?

I’m just really interested in super huge tv :)

Not sure about now but the old Sony is quite good. I bought 1 entry model for my parents 4-5 years ago. They watched about 8-10 hours a day and the tv is still working after 4.5 years (having minor issue on and off). Quite value for $$$. Assuming if you can get flagship 65” X9500H at $2900 and it last you 5 years. Samsung I doubt can last so long. Usually 3 years panel die liao

The HDR setting only has Auto/HDR10/HLG/Off. Even setting to HDR10, it still switches to Dolby Vision when playing with the TV Netflix App. There is no way to playback HDR10 from the TV apps. Shows like Jupiter Legacy support Dolby Vision, HDR and SDR.

Chromecast with Google TV can select between Dolby Vision/HDR10/SDR playback for the apps installed.

My preference is HDR10 over Dolby Vision. The yellow cast on Dolby Vision is overpowering and also affects the subtitles. Probably works well in very dark room but not under normal room settings.

Got it from Harvey, waited about 2 weeks for the shipment. They brought in 16 pieces and most were already taken up. Heard that could be the last shipment. Maybe can also try audio house, Mega or mustafa..

Oh u want HDR over Dolby. I hope more ppl write to Sony to let them provide this option in the next sw

u state your wanted the ability to turn off Dolby. Yes you do just that you cannot use HDR. If I were Sony rep reading your concerns I will be, didn’t I meet your needs lol.

First, play a Dolby Vision content. Once you are in Dolby Vision picture preset, go to your picture settings and switch the colour temperature from Warm 1 to Neutral or Cool. That will help make your whites less yellowish/orangey. Thus, you will get contrast perfect scene along with cooler whites when playing Dolby Vision content.
