Yes, that's what has me confused. I can ping so that indicates the DNS server settings are configured fine, but I can't browse anywhere.

edited as I read something wrongly. able to show us ur setup page? can cover the vlan tagging part as long as u using the right number

What setup pages ? Here's a couple.

The DNS entries are showing the Google ones which I manually put in while trying to fix my issue. Being set to auto now they will get the ISP's DNS servers which are currently:

218.186.1.58
202.156.1.38

Yeah, it's th MTA. While trying to get it working I tried he other 3 MAC addresses as well.

I had all 3 set to 1078 but reverted back to just one nil I get it working. There is no point complicating it.

Here's a screenshot of the symptoms. The cmd window shows a successful ping to google.com but the browser fails. It's really messing with me....

Internet is connected, able to do ping but unable to surf ?

Could be the same 'bug' encountered by n56u users !

Enable port forwarding must be set to "Yes"
as per screenshot by Scuderia.

Think I managed to track down the bug to the port forwarding rules.

Thanks ! That was the problem. All fixed now. I was pretty sure I had my settings right. Glad it was a weird setting on the router that was causing the issues.

Glad to know that this workaround worked on the latest firmware (3.0.0.112)

Apparently, Asus did not keep track of this 'bug' reported and fix it :(

Hi can someone help me please.

I have Starhub MaxInfinity Elite, and wish to use my RT-N66U to directly connect to theHuawai HG863 ONT, but so far I have been unable to make them connect.

I am using the 112 Asus Firmware and have followed the steps below but no go.

I appreciate that brother ddb probably had the Huawai router, whereas I have the dlink router, i have used the dlink serial number and the dlink MTA mac address but it does not appear to work. I have also set up the automatic DHCP as shown except I have used a vlan id of 1075 PRI 2 for the elite package.

Can somebody please advise me is it necessary to press the reset button on the ONT as so far I have just powered down then powered on the ONT, nd likewise with the RT-N66U.

Any help would realy be appreciated. Thanks

try prio 1

Hi Thank you very much it eventually worked after resetting the ONT using port 1.

Is is really very fast and will let me change the DNS servers once it is "Connected", although if the ONT is rebooted the DNS needs to be set to auto to reconnect.

I first of all bought the NT56U about two months ago in preparation for this fibre as it was to replace an Apple Airport Extreme which I knew would never connect directly to the ONT. But the NT56U looks nice but with the weight of cables attached cables its unsteady in my place and I like the feel of the 66U better and it also has a broadcom chip.

So anyone interested in making reasonable offer for the two month old N56U which works perfectly, have all the receipt and accessories. Please pm me.

Tks again.

It works on the RT-N66U.

I followed the guide from the 1st post. Do remember to enable port forwarding.

Now I'm stuck with no VOIP. Trying to see if it abt to "bridge" it back to that crap DL**k router.

Hey tonydickinson,
Do you have Digital Voice provisioned on the RG?
If yes, and since you still hold the n56u, would you mind to test out if the Starhub preset beta firmware worked with Starhub RG connected to port3 of the n56u?

TIA

Are there still any bugs with the n56u connecting directly to the Huawai HG863 ?
Default firmwares are ok ?

hey guys need some help

can't seem to get the wifi to work. and only 1 of my port for the asus work after doing these setup. (yes my dlink RG is dead)

i manage to link it to my e3000 which is acting as a router at the moment and discover that my n66u is acting like a "bridge" ._. my e3000 is handling all the ip dhcp and even obtained the SH wan ip.

wondering if i did anything wrong. i am not able to use another port on my n66u except for port 4 to access internet and not able to utilise its wifi too. in the even which i can access the internet.. its as though i am direct to ont. i cannot access the n66u admin page.

MTA is correct serial no is correct.

i set internet , voip, iptv, (VID 1078 piror 1 for all 3)
portforward to yes is done to prevent bug.

did i do wrong anything?

e3000 status... (why u getting public ip :( )
