Sigh I’ll try again tomorrow :)
Tmr check my number then restart the phone and check my number again. If it manage to retain the number you want then you activate iMessage and facetime(disable them now and remove the number - untick the number too)

Sigh since yesterday can change to my number but, cannot remove, so all the while follow your steps, except removing the number from imessage and facetime menu.

Now is activation still unsuccessful despite showing the correct number in imessage and facetime menu :(

Anyone knows if the gigaBuddy is the cheapest place to hold phone numbers? Also... data-only plans can be converted to a plan with caller ID regardless of telco right?
If you just want to hold a phone number and receive SMS and nothing else, an M1 prepaid card is the cheapest. Get the cheapest $8 card. That comes with 90 day validity. Then you just buy the 180-day validity extension ($2.40) every half a year. So just $4.80 per year. The initial $8 gives you $10 main balance so you get the first 810 days out of that.

But it's a prepaid number so you can only have three.

Cheapest is the M1 Maxx. Just pay the initial $12 and can just hold the line as long as got some regular usage of data/outgoing_call/outgoing_sms.

You requested for one? How much they charge?

Likely resolved as the previous sim card id was tied to the temp number in apple server. So new sim card has new id.

Okay I dunno about ‘sim ID’ cuz we were debating if it’s Apple or Giga’s problem…

Moreover… It was the last resort I guess lol… Haven’t bill me and I didn’t ask too, as long as issue is resolved haha…

Anyone who have used GigaRoam can confirm that there is no need to turn on/enable “Data Roaming” under mobile data settings?

After buying the pack, Giga SIM card on giga APN will automatically detect the telco in Malaysia and activate?

Checking for my elderly mom to ensure it will work for her cause she’s travelling alone.. need to teach her in advance if need to turn on data roaming 😅

Actually there's no harm leaving data roaming on. If there's no roaming pack active, you just won't get any data overseas and no extra charges either.

Thanks for your advice!

Oh so its not like traditional telcos whereby you'll get charged exorbitant fees if you accidentally get connected to overseas telco with data roaming enabled?

Yup! Just leave it on without worries.

The only issue is if you subscribed to the roaming pack in advance and live close to Malaysia, and your phone decides to "roam" to a Malaysian telco, that would automatically activate the roaming pack prematurely. Just buy the pack only on the day she leaves to avoid that potential problem.

Just ported to giga. Can check if the monthly payment is auto charged to your card (e.g. every 30th of the month)?

Or is it like Singtel/Starhub/M1 postpaid where they bill you, then give you ~14days to pay up?

Auto charged, like every other MVNO out there. For Giga it is charged on your renewal date, not 30th of the month.
