giga 5G is not available because iPhones use different carrier bundle for each carrier.
For Singapore, MyRepublic uses StarHub carrier bundle, thus share same features as StarHub (5G standalone).
For some reason, giga uses a separate carrier bundle called "StarHub_giga_sg". This bundle does not have 5G standalone enabled.
Thus, giga iPhone users must wait till giga submits a new bundle to Apple, and wait for Apple approval, and wait for Apple release a new iOS version, and update to that iOS version, then can use 5G. Just like SIMBA, waited for sometime till iOS 16.4 was out, then can use 5G
Guess the marketing and tech teams didn't communicate before rolling this out. Now suddenly they can't sell their 5G service to iPhone users until their bundle is updated on Apple's end.

We all have to face the fact that on 31 July 2024, our 3G network will shut down. No more fallback to 3G. So we are left with only 4G. So that's why we need 5G. Those with handsets that are capable should get 5G plans.

More of this mvno's are slowly releasing 5G plans like giga, myrepublic.

These 5G plans are some of the cheapest, if not the most.

4G will then be the backbone network.
The reliability should be up there with 3G, if not for the separate data and voice (VoLTE).

There are cheaper 5G plans out there, like zym (for $10)

I just activated 5g on giga app for iPhone 13. Still seeing … no reception. Is iPhone not supported or I need to wait a while to be activated?

Anyone switched to the 5g sim already can share what is your data network type?
You can check by dialing *#*#4636#*#*

Mine is showing NR_SA even without switching the sim card so it seems to be already on 5G SA.
Getting 390mbps download, 24mbps upload and 25ms latency at home.

Wanted to know if there's any reason to change sim card.

5G is NR and 4G is LTE. So that should be 5G.
