Just came to GIGA 2 days ago upon maturity of family Singtel XO plan (2 phones) after talking to a person who was on such MVNO (mobile virtual network operator).
She uses Simba (and she warned about Simba limitation - have to tolerate no signal in our Jurong Island plant office - think it is because it is a thick double walled building). Another friend uses GOMO which works in the JI office but is slightly more expensive than GIGA.
Looked briefly at the range available and decided to play safe on MNVO which are either Singtel or Starhub network (to avoid connectivity issue). Then I chose a company whose parent is Singtel or Starhub (wanted eight but there is no porting of existing phone number) and ruled out Vivifi (not Singtel parent); GOMO price higher and didn't look at Heya then.
Had an incredibly difficult time trying to sign on GIGA:
1. went to first create a new login account using social login "continue with google" method on the web with my PC. Turned out I couldn't login on my company apple phone with the GIGA app "continue with google" (believe it is because the company Defender protection software prevents it).
2. So I used the web based GIGA on my PC to make my purchase but then the pop up to make payment could not appear. Meddled around and finally found out that i had to disable the McAfee fire wall.
3. The support is pretty robo based; utterly useless with above. (wish GIGA tried it and put these issues faced on the FAQ troubleshooting).
4. Points 1 and 2 made me annoyed; was very close to giving up on GIGA.
5. Reason I stayed was:
a. didnt want to give my son too much GIGA (took the monthly $10, 20G plan for him- digital addiction concern any excess it will stop outgoing - but not the incoming).
b. Zero risk of bill shock whether in Singapore or when in overseas. Phone will not work if those adds on are not paid ahead (eg direct phone calls to singapore from overseas, latching on a different network not linked with phone provider when on overseas roaming).
Luckily:
1. physical SIM which arrived 4 hours early was installed seamlessly; its porting was performed at midnight.
2. Got the second 300G on second day for my wife, again seamlessly done and porting was on same day midnight.
3. Changed my login on GIGA from social login to email and password and its app suddenly can be used for login on my company iphone which had the Defender firewall block).
So now on the discovery and exploration phase of GIGA. So far so good.
Will squeal if I find issues.
