I just signed SH residential 1Gbps. (no hub anything else)
ONT is Huawei HG8240H.
Free router is DIR-850L (vertical cylinder), probably will sell it on Carousell.

1GBPS they also give DIR 850L? I signed 200mbps last yr they gave same router too. Looks like they r becoming more cheapskate. Btw that router is really lousy. Dun expect too much in terms of range and speed.

I think you better get a better wireless gateway, the one they are giving has poor wireless range.

Anyone can help? Meddle for a whole day but still can't find the solution.. Should I buy a new router?

Yesterday Starhub guys came to install at my house for home hub 100.

I have multiple rooms so I have them to install data point before they came for installation

One of the room has connected with the iptv successfully by starhub engineer.

They told me I could plug my router to data point and can be use directly

However not mine, I tried to connect my data point with lan cable directly to my Asus RT n65u router.

My room connection is data point > Asus router via lan cable

While my main connection at my circuit box area : TP ---> ONT--->Router--->gigabit switch---->my room port

It shows disconnected in the router page.

Even thought I successfully configure my router, it still shows no Internet access on my computer.

Is there anywhere to set up my router connected to my data point? I have rectify that the data point is connected to the main router where it placed with the ONT and provided Router.

What could be wrong?

1. Check if Power, PON & Port 1 LED on ONT lit? If you connected a phone, then Tel 1 should also lit.
2. LOS on ONT should not lit. If lit, means your FO line between TP & ONT is open.
3. Only Port 1 of ONT can be use.
4. Check the cable between ONT & Router. Change if you have a spare.
5. Swop the cable on the Switch to another port. That particular port maybe defective.
6. If only 1 room having this problem, then maybe the LAN cable in between is broken, or the faceplate not terminated properly.

I agree. Now using the old router DLINK 865L , its quite gd. When that breaks down will buy newer and better router.... Now asus ac68u very good?

Thanks. It was resolved until I bypassed the gigabit switcher.

Now here comes the irony, I signed up 1gbps and I got merely 80mbps with their speedtest. Really joke. Need call them and ask liao.

To get near to the 1Gbps, you have to connect your PC or laptop directly to the ONT. I only managed to get about 800 - 900 Mbps. But again, who will connect just 1 device to the ONT to"maximise" the entire bandwidth??

80Mbps on cable connection or wifi??

The average speed I get is around 400Mbps when connect my laptop via LAN cable to my router. Wifi can get max. around 150Mbps.

Mine is the StarHub 500mpbs plan installed 6 months ago using DL868.

This is my 5.0GHz band result based on my mobilephone (a/b/c/n/ac capable) wifi Speedtest from 1 metre away from my DL868! :)

I'm using LG G Pro 2 and Singapore server.

Hmmm...Still no good is it? I thought that mobile phone wifi usually achieves a much lower wifi speed compared to using laptop or pc wifi?

If so, what could have gone wrong?

Nothing wrong and it's normal cause most mobile devices are fitted with either 1X1 or 2X2 radio chips.

Since the day I got my HomeHub provision I did not experience bandwidth related issue. I've also noticed most of the speed issue is cause by poor configuration on the end user's networking equipment or technical fault on the end user's networking equipment.

If you want performance I would suggest that you get a better wireless router such as Asus AC3200 or AC5300 instead of using the stock router provided by Starhub.

I assume can use other routers like Asus instead of the dlink provided. Is it easy to set up?
