Hello specs pros bros and sis… I have been using zeiss single vision lens for many many years.

Wanting to try an alternative lens and realised that while in our neighbouring countries, they have quite a number of distributors carrying Nikon lens but not so here in SG. Any reason why is this so?

And I heard from the opticians overseas that Nikon 1.74 is alot alot thinner than Zeiss 1.74. Any reviews on nikon lens recently and are there any shops here in SG here in which I can make price comparison with?

Finally gotten my eyewear after more than 14 days of wait~

Prescription bifocal (relaxsee neo), transition signature gen 8, bluelight (see coat next blue) and UV protection at index 1.74, together with astigmatism correction. Heng the optometrist did super accurate measurements, be in on my eyes, or in lens sizing + focus markings to make sure that the overall process is a positive one- no giddiness or whatsoever even coming from zeiss single vision previously.

But sad that the lens are no longer made in Japan, but in essilor france with engraving done in essilor thailand :/

Haha did mine in jb after researching and walking in multiple shops in both jb and sg to check with various optometrists, and to see which one is able to patiently provide technical answers to my qns and not just trying to do sales with sales talk.

More importantly individually maybe you can first start off by identifying the lens vendor you prefer, and then look at technical specs of the lens model with their catalogue. I have to give zeiss a miss this time round cuz till date, they do not have transition lens @1.74 index.

Next will be the price- same optical shop franchise at different locations do provide different discounts on lens and frame catalogue retail pricing.

For bifocal i think lens cutting, aka the actual dimension of the lens plays a huge part to prevent distortion once you have selected your frame. Next critical aspect will be the “focus zone” markings the opto makes once the dimension of the lens have been determined.

Personally I prefer those lao uncle optos who really know what they are doing haha, my 2 cents 😅

Anyone knows any shop that can do progressive lens replacement for rimless frame.

Note: rimless frame. A lot of shops told me that they cannot do lens replacement for rimless frame.

I want to use my rimless frame, but make progressive lens and look like Lawrence Wong...haha

When fitting customised progressive lens like Hoya Mystyle V+ or Zeiss Individual, is it recommended to look for a shop that uses equipment to measure or it's ok if they manually measure and mark the positions? What's the pros and cons ?

thanks

For office lens, is it possible to configure as see far (presentation screen) and see intermediate (laptop)? Or only can be set for intermediate and near views? Thanks

Hi guys, need advise pls! I just made a Owndays glasses+magnetic shades. Since I intend to used it as a sunglass as well I choose a slightly oversized Boston shape frame. When I try on the sample with no degree I just thought it’s looks ok of my face shape, however the focal point of the lens do not sit at my eyeball when I wear with my prescription lens. The focal point is at the center but my eyeball is at the 1/3 of the lens. I’ve since made a number of adjustments but the vision still not clear.
(My nose is not as sharp and high so I guess also made fittings and adjustments a challenge?)

Question is can the lens be cut such that the focal point be at the 1/3 portion of the frame or does it have to be in the center of the frame?
