Hi friends, already pulled the trigger so purely out of curiosity where this retailer stands in terms of pricing; would anyone be so kind to advise if this was fair/expensive/cheaper vis-a-vis market for this pair of lenses?
Brand: Hoya + blue control
Index: 1.6
Degree: 300 short sightedness / 125 astigmatism; 250 short sightedness / 175 astigmatism
(degree numbers approximate; can't remember exactly)
How much would something like that cost?![]()
You lack providing the frame you chose. Unless you plan to hold the lenses on your hand ?
Hoya blue control ; very prone to scratches. I won't recommend . Zeiss or crizal will be more worth it . Zeiss got stronger durability while criizal lower in price
In the comparison, the frame is the constant so I didn't include it actually. I chose a unbranded frame @ 150 ( i think!) for what it's worth. The lenses cost me 200.
I have heard about the blue control also, but Zeiss being my other option, will cost me 80% more, something I don't really want to pay currently. Is Hoya really bad? That said, I'm currently using what is presumably an older generation pair of hoya (specs have been with me ~5 years) and while there are micro scratches, I find it acceptable - wonder if performance is expected to be similar?
Opticians would say its marketing . Brand at play. But is it really that true?
Would you say a Honda Accord feels the same as a Toyota Prius? This doesn't mean the Prius is lacking in anyway. But are they the same just because different brand thus different price?
Hoya blue control is made in Japan . Pioneer in blue control tech. But lenses very prone to scratches.
Zeiss made in Germany, expensive. Blue protect came late to the game but worth. Sharper and clearer clarity
ah pardon my lack of ability to comprehend here, but what is the point you're driving with the marketing bit?
Truth be told my optometrist did say the same thing - hoya is more likey to scratch, and the accuracy can be a bit off when compared to zeiss. I guess the question is then - is the difference significant enough to 1) warrant the upcharge and 2) be noticeable by the user?
That said we've also digressed I think.
I appreciate your inputs!
Are you middle aged who needs a progressive spectacles tailored for pcs or just looking for pc lens?
I'm in my 20s. Looking at PC lens cause I face the comp all day at work.

Hi all. I wanna get a specs which will be worth $600. Will make my lens transition and good for looking at computer? What's that term called? Anyone can recommend me any shop which sells high quality lens and specs?
Hoya has much better scratch resistant and longer lasting coating. None of my hoya lenses past and present has a single naked eye scratch. Not even hairline. U need to go under microscope to see the finer scratches if any. Not even those spots and dots so prevalent on other lens brands. Hoya lenses only grow yellowish with age but rarely scratched. I hope they will be in business for a long time and don't drop in quality.
5 years. That how 'stingy' we all are when it comes to eye wear. I used to be like that too, stretching the shelf life of the product to its maximum before I see the need to change. but think about this - we spend so much more $ on clothes, bags and shoes... and only use it for that few hours per day. Eye wear is on our faces EVERY SINGLE SECOND of the day (except bed time). No brainer on the ROI.

It all boils down to your lifestyle. Are you the kind who would be cautious to use only anti-static, anti-scratch cloth, or do you usually not care and use any kind of cloth to wipe clean?
Btw, here's a recent comparison done between Hoya and Zeiss:

Enough said.
