Er....actually dw is the reason y im asking. My wife is the one looking n she said dw is nice. But i die die don wan her to buy. So trying to find an alternative. N also don mind it being a quartz...but not those cheapo quartz like dw.
Often time, girls will be able to understand or even differentiate between automatic or a quartz. To them a watch is just a fashionable piece. Look nice can liao

From personal experience, my female friends really love their DW, even for some guys too. Attempt to tell them about the niceness of orient, seiko etc but no use one. Their heart and mind fix on to the dw liao

SBGA011? Yes I am considering this as well

Yes.

Lovely! Enjoy staring at your watch!

Yeah, wonderful to look at, even more so under a loupe.

Nice! Can share damage ? =:p

5k+.This is a pre-owned piece of abt 1+ yrs old.

That looks great!

For those who like GS, has SD vs hi beat ever been part of your consideration? Does the fact that SD is a hybrid automatic watch bother you?

Not for me. The smoothness of second hand sweep is beautiful and the time keeping ability is so insane. I would love to own a hi-beat next time.

The lightness of the titanium case can be unnerving for some people. It is so freaking light you might think it's made of plastic when you hold it.

Don't bother with the ladies. They don't care one.
As long nice and light.
Buy them a rolex and ask them choose between dw or rolex.

If it's a guy, you ask him go die

Lol... Don't forget to wipe....

Detail details details....

Not to forget... the buttery smooth movement of the second hand that just flows around the dial...

I will get the sub first and then the snowflake sometime in the future. Reason being the sub is much more versatile and can be worn anywhere. Not saying the Snowflake can't.

However, having held both before, i can tell you the finishing on the GS is superior.

My wife does appreciate watches. She has orient n seiko....n share some of my seiko as well. Jus that the dw design somehow attracted her. The simplicity, thinness n size. So if can get other brands like that, she will not get dw.

Boss, if your wife like DW, get her DW.

Don't go and crack your head, find some substitute, then end up still have to buy DW.

Watches are like love; some people are happy to find good looking partner but not much substance - that's the equivalent of DW; others need to find good looking and sophisticated partner.'

BUT after all, a watch is not a partner; not happy can easily change. If your wife just happy with a good looking DW even if it has low substance, just let it be, especially since it doesn't affect your life or hers.

something to share with watch lovers.

SD is not really a new technology. it is a hybrid movement. y ?

get a dslr and video record the sd movement in slow - mo
try doing the same for a hi beat
try doing same for a 28,600 bph
try 21,000 bph

all will show you the difference.

i sold my sbga011 after i fall asleep when watching the slow motion video.

for daily watch with sbga 011 - nice lovely watch ... but it will always not my first choice.

very enduring watch for sd ...

hi beaters need regular maintence.

I would go for the sub 1st but that's my personal preference. It has some weight to it and feels solid. It also retains more value as a 1st watch.

Snowflake is also relatively more time consuming to find.

Oh.... did I mention about the nice GS logo on the caseback crystal?
