Can I check with you guys viewing this thread on desktop PC, do some photos such as those posted above by sg.vintage.thingy get cut off because they are too big and you can only see part of it? Only way for me to view is to click the photo and see a dedicated window of it.

Is there any cheap place that sell brand-new Armani watches? I thinking of getting one for my boyfriend's birthday?
Or is there any brand of watches and shops you guys can recommend?
my budget is around $400
Thanks...![]()

personal opinion, i don't really recommend armani watches....
1. mostly are quartz movement
2. mostly china movement (very little japan movement)
3. u are paying more just for the brand....
A lot of watches mentioned in this thread are less than $400. Eg. Orient bambino, Seiko Snzh 53/55/57/59.... (watch + a lot of extra straps = less than $400)

Hi RWC,
These are two pieces I pickup on my stopover in Europe, a quick dash out to my regular hunting ground for vintage pieces. With a bit of a luck, I got two pieces.
These models are 1950s, you can tell them by their lugs, tear drops design normally and the transition to 1960s model with the numerals remain,
The below one is a 9K pink rose sold gold watch with second hand at six. The yellow perspex comes with ageing. I normally do not change them if I still can read the numerals.
The second piece below was a gamble but it paid off. At first sight is a turn off with the melt down of the perspex like someone put a blow torch in front of it.
On returning home, I opened up the front case.....a big WOW....the dial is in perfect condition.
The saying goes "Do not judge the book by its cover, in our case, do not judge the watch by its cover"......
Hope you guys learn something today.
Have a good day.
New love for the PAM 441 again. Just got my bespoke strap. Ostrich leather is from the same material Hermes uses for their bags.
Exceptional quality.![]()
Generally, Japan, Swiss, German movements are better than the Chinese movements. What is japan movement vs china movement?
Isn't quartz movement more accurate than mechanical watches ( I read online)
What other watches u recommend? He's only 23, I scare this brand of watches u suggested are too mature for him.

best place to shop for straps is really the web - ebay, qoo10...
i'm not so fussy about straps and seldom make recommendations, but aside from colour i think ladies have more options in terms of texture e.g. lizard skin which can make a subtle but still impactful difference. not the best example but just an idea:

$400 can buy a decent Seiko or Orient auto.. Maybe 2

If your bf isn't a watch nut like the most of us. Then just get what you think is nice and he will wear. You can try online but after adding shipping, etc, you're pretty much better off just getting it from shops like City Chain, etc. At least if there are problems you can go back to them.
Quartz does have its pros to people who just want to pick and go. Mechanical watches can irritate a person who isn't a watch enthusiast as they have to go through the hassle of adjusting the watch when it winds down.
