I will recommend you to go down to bencoolen and try on all 3 watches.

Images may look nice but once you see it in flesh and wear it against your skin tone...
it's an entirely different story

Popular brands are usually those with good resale value and only those few popular models from those particular brands. IWC watches generally do not have very good resale value or for certain models not so easy to be sold on the 2nd hand market.

Thats what Im seeing on the market, though any more experienced forummer can correct me if Im wrong. Im not 100% sure but just judging from what Im seeing in the market.

Going to purchase 3777, seem like here quite less ppl own iwc... Dunno why?

“爱。达标。痴”的二手市场回收价不如“老叻”来得火热。

Resale value, what means resale value? after 5yrs, 10yrs still got market value? I think in 3yrs all brand are the same, even sub. Unless 2nd hand...

Interestingly, I flipped a used sea dweller (not the deep sea one), lost $500. Flipped a used planet ocean, gained $100. Flipped a sumo (bought from Japan brand new, wore a few months myself), gained $80.

By definition, in terms of % value retention, seiko>omega>rolex
Dunno how you look at it. Keeping my mm300 close to me... I bought it at $2300 new, and I dun think I can sell at $2380 though.

That means my Seiko 5 which I bought for 180 can be sold for more than 200?!?!?!

Joking right?!

I don't agree with your theory solely based on selling just 3 watches...

If the sumo you sold was JDM and not easily available anywhere elsewhere, then it's logical that the buyer may pay more for something which was exclusively meant for Japan market.

Similarly... if the omega SMPO or Rolex SD was a model exclusively sold in certain areas. Or example the SG50 jlc reverso, it would probably fetch a much higher price in America or Europe with diehard JLC watch collectors

Plus... people flip for gains not lost.

Working on a Sunday night... Sad life. With my made in China OEM 50 hours power reserve flying tourbillion... Cannot afford the real McCoy from swiss

apecPce.jpg

real story: when chinese revealed their tourbillion at an international watch show, the swiss were shocked. they even tried getting an injunction but failed, because the chinese tourbillion had some original design elements.

I was at Seiko JEM yesterday just browsing (and fell in love with the Sumo :( ) and I noticed that the mm300 is not on display, but the limited ed SBDX012 is. At first I was surprised but then I released that the SBDX001 has been phased out while they probably haven't had stock for SBDX017 yet.

Although I'm not planning to get a mm300, but just a thought experiment: Will it be better to get the SBDX001 now (maybe cheaper if shops are trying to clear stock now) or will you wait for the SBDX017 to be in stock and for the price to hit a more reasonable street price rather than pay MSRP for it?
