As backup...
bring him to reputable preowned shops like chuan, HJ, Monster and JW.

Usually in preowned shops, I feel more at ease to try different watches compared to AD

Yup...will get the best wif his budget...but sadly its only 5k. We r not well to do, so 5k is really a lot to spend on 1 item. Actually he will hv more, but i guess he will want to use it on other things.

N u r right abt the heirloom thing. Will b best if able to keep it as heirloom.

Depends on whether he insists on buying new.

A pre-owned Omega Speedmaster Professional aka Moon Watch in mint condition with box & papers can be had for less than $5K with some good hunting.

While it's only rated at 50m water resistance, does not hack (you can't stop the seconds hand to set time to the second) and is manually wound, the SMP is a very respectable watch contemporary with your FIL, has impeccable pedigree, instant recognition, a fantastic design and the best watch clasp & bracelet out there until Rolex up its game replacing its stamped clasp with a solid milled clasp.

Fans of CSJ have noticed him wearing a beefy, manly, serious looking Diver on rubber strap during his election campaign.

The photo revealed it to be a Casio Marlin Quartz Diver w/ an attractive 6-9-12 dial.

My feeble attempts at google failed miserably. My source said it's a rather old model and maybe not available anymore.

Can anyone please help identify the model? Thanks, folks! :)

ps. VOTE WISELY TOMORROW! VOTE FOR POSITIVE CHANGE! Choose FREEDOM over fear! Choose COURAGE over complacency! :s12:

yeah collectors item... CSJ is a WIS!

citizen. they beat grand seiko in quartz tech. last i read the citizen a660 is +/-5 sec a year 10 year battery life, and of course - thermo compensated, AND perpetual calendar feature.

Ah yes! The Citizen Chronomaster - the understated overachiever! :s12:

Sweet & shiok! :lick:

Was yours preowned and what's the damage? How did you score that beauty?

But CSJ's only has a single crown & no button for the illumination. Any details about his particular watch? Large arrowhead hour hand, red seconds hand, 6-9-12 ... yum yum! :lick:

Retro Casio Marlin divers are the new hotness! :s12:

CSJ WIS ... ka kee lang, ah! :D
