Honestly why you don't consider a Rolex as your 1st luxury watch. It has better resale value. For GS - you must be prepared to own the watch. Resale value is likely not to be good as a Rolex. The experts here may disagree with me.

Ok let me clear the haze here. At first i was really into rolex wanna hoot one thought it was most renowned and great resale value. But after a while like what some said, there is no purpose just to own a watch for show then sell off later at a loss of say 3k. At end of the day, i think GS carries more class, looks more well made, very clean and refined, probably suits me better than a showy rolex. I mean who doesnt know rolex right. But wat the heck. GS is just screaming at me. Hope i dont make a choice i regret.

If you intend to flip get 2nd hand, you will lose less.

If for keepsake to celebrate a milestone (eg school graduation) get one you think you will look at years down the road and still like.

It is true rolex has better resale, but only if you buy 2nd hand and sell 2nd hand, not to mention you have to look hard for buyer. Selling to pawnshop sure get pawned. Buy new and sell 2nd hand is a sure way to lose a substantial sum.

Don't underestimate that over marketed rolex watch. For something so mass produced, they have been able to keep a very high level of consistency and quality in every watch manufacturered.

Seiko has a long heritage in watch making, but not many other than die hards will appreciate.

Snowflake is a GS spring drive, be prepared for higher servicing costs when you send it back to Japan for servicing. Seiko does charge more for servicing GS vs normal Seiko watches. You send to local Ad and they will send it to Japan. Expect servicing to take a long time. If you go Japan local it takes 2 weeks at least.

Hard to get it serviced locally because it it not truly mechanical, sort of a hybrid.

The manager in Seiko service center in Tokyo I spoke to said that they are trying to train staff in other countries how to service spring drive watches... That was 2 years ago. So far, nothing happened I think.

i email him le,he say is for skx007 only

I know that there are a few well known sources that can apply lumes to bezels but I'm not sure if they already have the bezel on hand, or they will require you to send in your own bezels.

Read about these discussions on the WUS forum, you can easily Google those threads.

No harm calling and asking. There's a chance that mr Goh or K2 will need to do relume when restoring vintage Seiko right?
