Guys, need some help.

When I switch on my Xiaomi Redmi Note, a blank screen appears with 3 options, something like Fast Boot, Normal and one other I can't remember. It says to press Vol Down to select and Volume Up to OK. It was working fine for the past 1+ yr.

Problem is, pressing the buttons didn't do anything as the indicator selection arrow keeps looping from top to bottom by itself. Tried all ways to make it work but nothing. 4+ secs after that, it restarts itself and the whole cycle continues.

Is the phone gone for good? My data is all in there!

Without knowing what are the three options, it sounds like you may have gone into Recovery Mode. Did this happen when you tried to switch on the phone? If so, you can safely shutdown the phone using power by pulling out the battery, or you can navigate through the menu until you see a Reboot opton.

You think i should update it?
Can v.31 be rooted? and is it really stable?

Hope those who have updated to v.31 can comment.

For Miui 5, v16 seem to be the one recommended by most, anything after that is just fill with bloatware. AFAIK, rooting is quite straight-forward for Miui 5.

As for Miui 6, well there is only one stable version (v6.6.1.0).

i had tried it but there isnt play store xian... revert back to sg miui6 but wanna know how to root it.

any help there?|?

Installing Play Store should be quite straight-forward, some even posted the require apk (googleinstaller) needed to get started. As for rooting for v6, refer to my earlier postings but some still have problem doing so. :(

thanks, albertlee.
i tried it and i got stuck when i reboot to recovery. it got me to Mi Recovery 2.0.1. From there, I don't know what to do. Do i have to rename the beta-SuperSUv.2.49 to Update.zip also?

Model Number: HM1W

Tried both "HM1SG" & "HM1W" file, but didn worked.

MIUI Version: 6.6.1.0

Android Version: 4.4.2 HM2013023

Kernel Version: 3.4.67

Build Number: MIUI HBJ2.0

Done step 1.

Stuck at step 2.

Tried to update "update.zip" via MIUI updater app.

After updating, it auto reboot into MIUI.

Did not see TWRP process at any point of time.

Did a reboot to recovery via updater app for the 2nd time.

Choose "reboot" option -> "reboot to system"

Auto reboot back into MIUI, did not see TWRP at any point of time.

Please advice, Thanks!

You have 2 set of Redmi 1?

Have you give what I have posted here a go?

Hi,

I only have 1 set of Redmi 1.

Details are listed in the earlier reply post.

I had tried the alternative step that you had provided.

Transfer the file to the root of my phone storage

Run the file via Updater App

Installation Failed -> "Error applying update"

Thanks.

Okay, you need to use the HW1SG of TWRP as the partition setup is different from Chinese set.

For TWRP installation, someone mentioned here that he managed to do so after also having problem following my steps. Give it a try.

Sorry, can't do any test on my set at the moment as I need this phone to be up and running.

Hi,

Will look into that.

Which file should I use for the alternative step 2.

Should I use the original steps that you had tried or the one that you did not try before?

Thanks.
