solved my problem. just need to key in the SMS verification code manually

when you start up whatsapp you probably have "disallow" whatsapp permission to sms and contacts. use the permission app to allow if not you will have other problems etc.

By default, MIUI will configure the camera storage to SD card. I checked and all photos taken on the Redmi is being stored on the SD card.

This phone does not have backlight soft keys.

Menu Home and Back button is totally invisible when viewing in the dark. You have to guesss the button location in order to press it.

This is a very good phone for all it worth $169.

If you buy at a premium price above $169 from flipper.

If you're buying it to play around, I would say no, don't pay the premium.
I needed to get another phone for work, and have been eyeing the Redmi since release.
Missed out on both sales, and I caved in to buy at a premium (it was a reasonable price to me)

Just fyi, just bought redmi + prepaid bundle at M1 itshow at $180 at around 2pm. Hardly any queue..Starhub and singtel sold out. Heard from singtel promoters singtel shops starts selling today.. (yet to be confirm)...cheers
