Nope. Not at all. 8(

Only WIFI is working fine. Can download apps from Play store.

SIM slots appear not to be working.

Any thoughts?

I would think that SIM slots would not be that easy to kill.

This set was working before. Then I itchy went to play with ROMS.
Bricked it for a while (couldn't boot up beyond Mi logo), then managed to flash and revive it, and then the SIM card in slot is not detectable.

Same here, got into issues (eg. screen flashing when dialing out) while playing with Developer ROM. Now using KITKAT MIUI V8.2.3.0 which seem to be stable.

BTW, is the phone able to detect the same SIM card on slot 2? Trying to rule out physical contact issue.

Hi albertlee,

Thanks for replying.

SIM2 also not responding to SIM card. But it shouldn't be working in Singapore by now (no more 2G network).

Unless, I try this phone in Malaysia (which I don't know when I'm going in).

Where to find this ROM? Can it be used on Redmi 1 (MediaTek 6589 chipset, not Qualcomm)?

It's the 2G network that is no longer working/available locally, both SIM slot should detect any working SIM card inserted in it. As mentioned earlier, I was trying to rule out connection issue but since both slot can't detect meant something else.

Of course it will work on Redmi 1 (aka Hongmi). Do a search on Needrom site.

Take note, in order to flash to this ROM, you need a image ROM and some knowledge on using SP Flash tool. I suggest you try flashing to MIUI 6 stable ROM first which is available from Xiaomi download server. Search for miui_HMWSGGlobal_V6.6.1.0.KHBMICF_033545b329_4.4.zip

Noted. Saw there is Fastboot and recovery version on this page (http://en.miui.com/thread-156828-1-1.html).

Will try the recovery version first.

Yup, recovery is the easiest, can use the stock Updater apps or TWRP to upgrade. The only cons I dislike about this version is it come with a lot of bloatware, mainly Google related apps.

Okay, flashed the recovery version of 6.6.1.0. No detection of SIM. 8(

Factory reset the phone, rebooted, and still no detection of SIM.

Do you think I should try the fastboot version? Or try the MIUI 8.2.3.0?

Or else just buy a new Redmi 4A (S$169)? 8)

I just want to exhaust all possibilities before consigning myself to having a wifi device. 8)

Just noticed that there is no Google Play services on this 6.6.1.0?? Is this correct? Then must load GApps separately?

Worry about Google Play and its apps later.

Can you double-check your current IMEI value with that stated on phone label (under the battery or refer to the phone packaging). Could just be a case of invalid IMEI number.

Use *#06# to display's IMEI number.

Good call.

*#06# says:

IMEI

Invalid IMEI
Invalid IMEI

How do I fix it? I have the IMEI from behind the phone.

PC apps same like SP Flash tool.

I think using *#*#4636#*#* can display more info including SIM.

Sadly that method dun show u the IMEI.

Next if u want to know the IMEI, just go over to settings->about->status->imei info.

albertlee, you da man!

You pointed me in the right direction.

My Redmi 1 has revived and SIM1 slot is WORKING!!!!!!!!

This URL was a BIG help: http://en.miui.com/thread-18485-1-1.html

Do the stuff as mentioned in the unbricking section.

Thank you, everyone, for your patient and kind advice.

Now my Redmi 1 is usable again!

But, there is no GApps, there is a Mi App Store. Do I need to flash the GApps in?

My phone says MIUI version is MIUI 5.6.4 | Beta.

Kernel version 3.4.67

Build number MIUI HBJ2.0

If I flash other ROMS now, do you think the IMEI/Baseband will get screwed up again?

Not sure what ROM you flashed, v6.6.1.0 definitely have all the GApps. This is the stable ROM for Miui 6, the next stable one is Miui 7 (v7.3.1.0). There is no stable release for Miui 8 for this model.

Hi everyone, I'm having troubles with transferring files out from my phone's internal storage. It keeps saying empty storage and whenever I did managed to access the files, eg photos, the photos took forever to load and the file explorer will hang. What is wrong? My internal storage is full and I have to clear out the photos in order to update apps, Thank you for the help!

This phone has weird issue with Windows file explorer, try using Xiaomi Mi Suite or simply transfer it to sdcard.
