I am pretty sure my Redmi is fake.

1. Very slow. Antutu only 10900. S3 have 15000ish and this supposed to be on par with S3

2. Resolution only 540 x 960 its so obvious this is not 720p! I was suspicious from start.

3. Using MT6572 instead of MT6589. Uses Mali GPU instead of PowerVR

This is fake UNLESS China Redmi/Hongmi comes in this spec as standard? Mine is Qoo10 set

I got it from a customer who trade in. I didn't know until a China Xiao mi rep told me..

so far i've installed only a few apps like fb, whatsapp, twitter, livescore, etc

i don't think you will face any storage issues unless u have no sd card. good to have one for media n photos, so leave the internal storage for apps

I noticed that every time I update an app, the phone storage drops.
Most of my user apps already transferred to SD card but phone storage still use up almost 1gb?
How to cleanup?

It said successful but further checked the storage the app was still in the internal memory. any ideas?? Need to create partition on sd card?

By default the camera saves the photos to an external sdcard if it's inserted? Anything to set?

Guys, I just got my redmi today!

just wondering if anyone have this issue. If you only want sim card 1 for 3G and sim card 2 for making call. is there a way to prevent accidentally making call from SIM card 1?

Maybe this question has been asked before... can someone point me to the post?

Thanks!

The Android's App2SD capability is a little bit stupid.

Some apps, such as widgets, cannot be installed to SD. Even for those that you can install to SD, parts of the app still remains in the internal memory. For example, the dex file and (usually) the data still remains in internal mem, while the apk and lib gets moved. Some apps will stupidly keep their data (eg, Chrome and the Straits Times app) inside the main app storage, taking up several hundred megs of precious space.

The advantage of App2SD is that it does not require root, you don't need a 2nd partition, and most backup programs can handle it well.

Another option is to use Link2SD. You have to pay for it, but it's superior in almost every way. It's better in that all apps can be moved to SD, and even the dex file is moved, so you save more space. The disadvantages are that 1) you need ROOT, 2) you need to create a 2nd partition in your SD card, and 3) not all backup programs know how to handle the 2nd partition.
