Oil does block follicles but that does not cause hairloss. the hair follicles blocking causing hairloss is an old theory of the pass in early 80's. you might heard of the Helsinki formula which base on this theory uses polysorbate 80 to clear the follicles and DHT on the scalp. polysorbate 80 might have some hair grow properties, but certainly not because of it follicles clearing way. some suggest it might be due to it can cause realease of histamine. but no one really know for sure does it do anything at all. such formula come and go along now and then.
if block follicles really is the cause of hairloss, why only top of your head loses hair? doesn't the side of your head produce sebum too? also, that mean people who does not wash their hair daily eventually loses their hair due to oil build up? clearly that not the case.
any shampoo will clear sebum. what so special about nizoral is it reduce the production of sebum which is why it is being suggested that nizoral have anti-DHT properties. that more important as it is the DHT under your follicles which cause hairloss but not those on your scalp.
