Hi everyone, I am new to semi-luxury watches game. I am actually looking to get a Rolex datejust 41, black dial, fluted bezels and oyster bracelet to celebrate a milestone in my life. I am still thinking if I want to go to the grey market vs AD and I need some opinions. My considerations are:

1) I am not in a rush to get the watch

2) As I am still looking to acquire about 2 more watches by June next year (probably IWC and Zenith), does that qualify me to be considered for allocation for my desired Rolex?

3) The main reason I would prefer AD is that I will be purchasing watches anyway and would like my name on the Rolex warranty card (irrational I know). However, this is not a deal breaker for me.

Yea.. waiting for 2 Rolex sports in my case.. and both very hard to come by.:

Actually I put a second Rolex sports as well but I don’t know if I would be allowed to get it (the second choice after the first choice) without any more purchases. Then I put a 3rd one which is a Rose gold sports watch (actually I hope this piece come last as no budget to buy a 54k watch now). Haha

FYI, since Q42020, customer name on Rolex warranty card is no longer the practice. All new Rolex purchases since then doesn’t have name on warranty card. In that case, you should consider buying PP as your name and address will appear on the warranty letter as well as the PP owners register and you get 2 PP magazines in a year too as well as a love letter from the PP President. Haha

Oh I didnt know that! Hahaha I don't think I am at that level to get a PP yet! In that case I might just slowly build up my collection and put my name down the 'interest list'. If they don't allocate me by end of next year, i'll just get one from the grey market

Interesting and qualify you for an aquanaut and Rolex sport? should be those demand gmt I guess..previously my intention to start a journey through a lady piece for my wife but SA din call me so kind of dampen my pursue..

I will advise u to be patient and wait for the DJ. Black or grey dial is not uncommon.

Oh I misunderstood your message. i thought your non allocated pieces means you are given more watches to buy after you bought the watch that you are supposed to buy to qualify for the queue of highly sought after Patek and Rolex sports model

It is the owners registry at PP Geneva. But I think the service centre should have the owners particulars once you send in for servicing and they extract the info from the PP Geneva owners registry

Panda. Second choice is the GMT lefty. i tried on the Starbucks at boutique 2 months ago and the SA asked me if I want to put my name for this piece as well. I told her maybe wait a while more after i get the first sports model.

Haha, maybe quite unlikely. I mean I have stayed single for the longest time and very used to it already. Haven’t exactly been looking for a date for long time and don‘t really have the urge to do so. Well, if fate dictates that I should get married, maybe the right person might just suddenly pop up? Is it really easier to get allocation at Cortina than at THG? I mean for quite some time I have heard of various people suggesting to try Cortina. Less people suggest to try THG somehow

Cortina ish notch easier rah same thing juz tat hg customer base bigger so they feel tat gotch to compete wif more customers and hg has alot of rich tiongs customer…

wan to say easier would say emperor as juz nid to bundle jewellery as more choices than always bundle watch wif watch notch sian meh…

Actually how does it work ah.. At Raffles City branch, the Rolex shop has a different group of SA than the PP and other brands. So how do you actually form a relationship with the Rolex SA when you can't even buy any Rolex in the first place. Do you just go and talk to them every now and than?
