Since you have no intentions of selling them, and you like them both equally, there’s really no right or wrong answer.

Choose the Sub for better resale value, better water resistance, and maybe better perceived status.

Choose the Explorer 2 if you like a bigger watch and value a second time zone.

Thanks bro for your input!

Which is more durable tho?

I'm quite a clumsy person and sadly I foresee quite some knocks happening...:s22:

Both are quite diff if u ask people into the Rolex sports models.. or may be viewed as not much diff for people who just view Rolex as Rolex..

Wahjoreno gave some good objective considerations but ultimately decision should be a matter of what u like best... good luck!

Thanks bro for your kind insights!

Or perhaps I should see which is available in the AD first! :s13::s13::s13:

The steel bezel of the Explorer 2 is less fragile than the ceramic one of the Sub during an extreme impact, but is scratch proof in daily wear situations.

The steel bezel of the Explorer 2 is more prone to scratches in daily wear situations, but won’t shatter during extreme impacts.

If you whack your hand against a wall hard enough or drop your watch from high enough, the ceramic bezel of the Sub will shatter. My friend broke his ceramic bezel during a motorbike accident, so it can happen.

But the steel bezel of the Explorer 2 will get scratched rather than shatter outright.

So choose your poison:

shatter more easily during extreme impact, but impervious to scratching

vs

scratch more easily in daily wear but shatter proof

The ironic thing is, many grey dealers/preowned shops don't even open up the caseback to check when they take the watch in. Quite scary if from the potential buyer's POV

Experts don't need to open the case back. They see the real thing day in day out. Anything off with the colour, the font, the feel, the fit...it's immediately obvious.

Even the top grade fakes are still distinguishable from the real deal.

Yup, having sold a few to grey dealers, i have to agree with you. They merely check serial # match authenticity card thats all.

Morning all, any place to recommend authenticity cheaper?thks again

Tell you go pawnshop liao and suggest to pawn.... then they will open the case and check...also ask them show you so you can take photo.

Works for me all the time for free.

But I usually hop around the different pawnshop.. :s13:

It's not easy to get a sub date.. Times have changed where subs are plentiful. You probably have a better chance to get the polar exp2. Now even that op 39 is hard to find. What a freaking weird world we are living in.

First timer buy Rolex, need advice where can source for cheaper price. The below price gotten from AD Chinatown.
1) Rolex Datejust 31 Watch: White Rolesor - M178344-0004 $19190
2) rolex m178384-63160 $21450

I do not mind resellers price or carousell posted for my reference.

Thank you.
