You use youtrip SGD to MYR to top up TNG ewallet? Or just link? Or top up TNG using msia bank acct? Your payment above is all ewallet/app?
Yup, payments from TnG are from the ewallet.

Used to top up using YouTrip and Amaze. But since they started charging, I've switched to using my MY bank account.

I m wondering why is there a need to upload passport details during application. i m concerned whether such data will be compromised. I m keen to use this app coz its so conveniently accepted across MY, but the above concern held me back. Anyway to skip upload passport?

It is still a money platform, user details is likely due to money laudering requirement :o

And considering foreigners are able to register, passport is only and most convenient way :o

Same with how SG will request for Passport/ID info applicable for non-Singaporeans.

Airbnb also need to upload passport. They need it to submit to MY govt.
I think TnG also similar requirement.

There is a new player launched by KTM on Monday, called KITS Style.
/https://www.malaymail.com/news/malaysia/2025/07/14/ktmb-rolls-out-kits-style-superapp-with-ticketing-bill-payments-shopping-and-more-in-one-digital-platform/183869

I installed this super app. It is big on KTM, obviously, so it is a lot more relevant for residents of KL using ETS, Intercity and Komuter. There is an e-wallet as well. Yet to evaluate it fully.

I replied in one of the edmw thread~ here's what I did to avoid the 1% convenience fee~

🏧 Withdraw Ringgit from ATM using Youtrip~
💰 Purchase TnG reload pin at Watson (also available at 7-11, KK Mart, Shell etc), can only use cash, credit/ debit card not accepted~
⬆️ Add money to TnG ewallet using reload pin
🔃 Select non-transferable balance to avoid the 1% fee~
✅ You are done~

There's a restriction on what you can use for non-transferable amount but not to worry cos you can convert non-transferable to transferable balance anytime, 1% will be imposed~

Tn-G-reload-pin.jpg

Purchased RM150 Reload Pins from Watson~

Reload wallet and select non-transferable balance~

I tested TnG ewallet to scan DuitNow QRCode for payment at Uncle Roger restaurant~
The app will auto deduct from the non-transferable balance first (if applicable)~
I top up RM150, made payment rm77.15, left rm72.85~
Another user also confirm that the non-transferable balance also can be used for VEP RFID toll~ :s22:

ive yet to see an establishment that only accepts TNG. so far its either tng or cash, or tng or card. so dont really understand the hoops to go thru just to siam the tng fee.

issit VEP must use TNG? if so then the abv would be useful. else if gng jb, go atm withdraw cash and just pay with cash or card la. no need so troublesome.

Practical advice . If Youtrip can withdraw cash from atm, why try the further trouble. Unlike in China, using cash and getting change in Msia is no issue.

Next trip give youtrip atm withdrawal a try. Some questions, how to identify which atm? What is the pin number? The max amount you can withdraw is the amt you have converted to RM in youtrip?

Any atm works
PIN number you set in app.
Max withdrawal is 5k daily. Don’t necessarily need to convert before hand

Why use TnG~?
1. Some smaller merchants don't have POI, only accept cash or Duitnow qrcode payment;
2. Some don't like to keep loose change (I misplaced many coins);
3. Some merchants impose minimum amount for using credit card payment;
4. Some just want to use TnG ewallet like they are the locals~ :s22:

Card, settings, reset ATM pin.

Then at ATM machine insert card, enter ATM pin,

select either savings or credit account, I select savings when I got money in RM wallet. Not sure if there's a difference.

They will warn u about additional fees. DO NOT use the ATM's conversion if they ask u.

Then get your cash.

So far I mainly use bank's ATM machine. But hearsay all ATM same.

Look for ATM with the Mastercard, Maestro or Cirrus Logo~

Previously I made a mistake, youtrip pin is 4 digits while I tried on CIMB ATM, it shows a 6 digits boxes~ i tried my usual 6 digits possible pins and got myself log out from the ATM~
After that I read the FAQ, the correct method is just to use the 4 digits pin and enter, select saving account for the withdrawal~

The first S$400 overseas withdrawal per calendar month is free~ above that there's a 2% fee~ daily withdrawal limit is S$5k though~

1. Then use cash
2. Then use cash. The most coins u gonna get is 90cents RM. Even if misplace, it isn't much. I once ended up with 50pcs of rm1 notes lol. Imo if u can't even take care of afew coins, you have bigger problems being in jb lol.

3. Then use cash
4. If you find the gymnastics to reload tng v fun and worth the 'street cred' for using TNG then by all means. The moment u open ur mouth they know u nt local liao
