Hais... just checked after posting and unfortunately it only supports up to 1Gbps... my mistake LOL. Are there any recommendations on how to get more despite that? Are there USB to ethernet adapters that can do that?
You must get a TB4 to 10G LAN adaptor and then use the cat 7 cable la. Having the 10G LAN is the basic thing.

Nice built-in OOkla Speedtest results.
Qualcomm IPQ950/IPQ9574 is really much faster than the offersing from MediaTek (Filogic 880 MT7988A) and Broadcom (BCM4916).

Broadcom BCM4916 (used by Asus) is much slower so you may not hit above 4Gbps with the built-in SpeedTest.
How to get the specs of this EB810V?

I just got this router and the Starhub 10gbe plan. Speedtest within the router, new feature from the recent firmware update, shows a up/download speed of about 8gbps. But the download speed to my PC through an Aquantia AQ107-chipset ethernet card consistently show bettwen 1.4 to 1.8 gbps for download and about 6 gbps for upload. I have did permutations of the settings in Windows 11 but still get this kind of speed. The ethernet card is connected via a 1.5m CAT 6 cable to the router.

Much appreciated if anyone can advise what should I do to push the download speed to close to 8gbps.

Thanks.

1) Make sure you use OOkla SpeedTest app and not browser.

2) Are you using 3rd party anti-virus program? If yes, try to temporary disable it and test again.

3) Windows is known to have problems, especially with lower capability chipset like AQC107 or AQC113 based network card, as reported in this forum. Some users have to install a fresh copy of Windows 11 to get 7 to 8Gbps.

4) If possible, use a Linux live USB SSD to carry out the test again.

Finally open the box of EB810v to play. Trying to see if I can setup easymesh with the AXE300 and access the network thru wireguard. But to my horror, it doesn't have wireguard VPN server! :s14: WTF!

I check the TP link SG website, it specifically stated it support wireguard:
https://www.tp-link.com/sg/service-provider/wifi-router/eb810v/

Did I miss something?

Should be the latest Firmware:
0.14.0 3.0.0 v608b.0 Build 240709 Rel.56868n

In the overview page, they probably just copy from TP-Link Archer BE800 and the picture says Wireguard supported.

But in the spec page, it is clear that Wireguard is not supported as of now.

You may want to continue pressing TP-Link and Starhub to improve the FW. EB810 simply has good HW spec but the FW bug fixes and feature enhancement are slow from TP-Link side -- that seems to be the normal case for TP-Link Service Provider models.

In general I will avoid TP-Link Service Provider models. But I guess for Starhub 5Gbps/10Gbps plans, it is at least much better using ONT+EB810v than using Nokia XS-2426X-A all-in-one ONR. You just have to be patient to wait for the bug fixes and feature enhancement.

For users not using Starhub, it is better to avoid EB810v -- I understand other users (especially SIMBA users) may be tempted to get EB810v from Carousell, at it is the cheapest 10G capable WiFi 7 router available in Carousell. But in the end it may not be a good idea as they may not get FW updates.

The other model -- TP-Link Archer BE805 (dumpled by MR users) is better for the users of other ISPs as it is a consumer model. The HW spec is not as good as EB810v (eg: no 2.5G ports) but the FW will be better. There are not many selling in Carousell though.

Why use fireguard when VPN usually can not support 10Gbps speed? The use of such VPN will slow down your internet connection. In general not much use. Can use a better DNS instead for security purposes.

Wireguard VPN server will not slow down your internet connection from within the home network. It is mainly used for remote access back to home network from ourside. It is useful as well for better security if you need to use public WiFi. It is also useful when you are using outside Singapore and want to access some Singapore contents. This is the topic of the discussion. You can of course use OpenVPN server or IPSec server, but Wireguard is much faster.

Wireguard VPN client may slow down your network, but again it is still the fastest VPN protocol out there when you need to use it, much faster than OpenVPN and IPsec. Some of the commercial VPN solutions offer Wireguard as an option along with OpenVPN.

For remote access back to home network, there are other solutions like Tailscale, Netbird, Twingate and Zerotier.

If you are to set up VPN on the router then internet connection via the router will be by VPN. Security cameras will have their own software or mobile App to do it and do not need wireguard. I also have camera at home.

It is okay, I think average users tend to know more about VPN clients (through the use of Corporate VPN or commercial VPNs like NordVPN and Surfsharks). But they do not understand the use cases of VPN servers.

Security cameras nowadays will have apps for remote access. That is just one use case. There are other use cases where VPN servers from the home router or home network may be useful. I guess you do not have or do not know those use cases. No problems with that since it might be a more advanced topics for you.

One simple reference from Asus.
https://www.asus.com/sg/support/faq/1050842/

ASUS router can function as VPN servers, allowing remote devices to securely connect to the home network from anywhere. This enables users to access their home network resources securely when away from home.

ASUS router can act as VPN clients, connecting the entire home network to a VPN service. This provides VPN protection for all connected devices without needing to configure VPN individually on each device.

Oic, really disappointed with TP Link. The hardware is surely powerful enough to support wire guard but they just wouldn't want to include it. One of the reason I use the AXE300 for just SH STBs alone is because of the lack of Wire Guard VPN server. Thought the EB810v would support it. As always, TPLink software side is lacking again. Sigh.

Thanks for the info, Xiaofan, appreciated.

Why you need Wireguard?

Also check if your card is running at x4 pci-e speeds? Maybe not enough pcie lanes if you have gfx card and other M2 cards

There was also a driver or firmware update if I recall..
