Yep asus jitao say NO to amd.

anyway intel consumer networking last few years also not very good, will give this qualcomm chipset a try, qualcomm consumer wireless recently very healthy color :o

I just finished setting up my EB810v (4 units). Compared to Deco BE85 I feel it is somewhat worse even though internally it's quite similar.

Setup much more convoluted and couldn't detect my mesh units via my main controller on the web interface until I saw Youtube mention can just connect via WPS on main unit then press on satellite units after it has booted to show "Hi".

There was a bug after connecting 1 of the units as it was still broadcasting a separate MLO SSID for whatever reason so I had to reset it and re-pair it again.

Wireless connection speed was very poor at first capping at 500Mbps down until I logged in to do a check and noticed OFDMA and TWT were turned off. After switching on both, I can get 700-900Mbps on my 1gig line. However, I also noticed that with OFDMA/TWT off the latency is better at 9ms vs 30-40ms.

Only 1 good thing I can say is the range is not too bad as I can do wireless backhaul further than my old Deco X95 and XE75 and speeds are better probably because of the tri-band backhaul.

Edit: I just saw that MU-MIMO is not even added in this firmware yet. Now it makes a whole lot more sense why it feels "crippled" compared to my BE95/85.

Talking about this router means getting thr SH 10Gbps HS package...if in the event my wifi signal isnt good in my bedroom... as getting the same router to act as mesh isnt an option (too bulky for me, and i believe mesh can only be done by the same model), are those tp link wifi extender any good? Yes it will not reach same speeds, i just feel the need to compensate for any dead spots in my room just in case.

You can get something like the RE705X or Archer Air R5 to mesh with it. Not necessary to use exactly this model.

Oh thank you. Was actually researching and found that 705x but i thought can do as extender only. I swear i read somewhere eb810v can mesh only if same router. But thanks for your input.
Yeah in the StarHub FAQ it kind of says that but if it’s EasyMesh and TP-Link it should be pretty safe bet.

Would suggest to find something which you can wire in if possible to get maximum speeds because these dual-band extenders will suffer quite a bit of speed loss. The R5 looks like only sold from Malaysia but is a router with LAN ports so you won’t be using its radios for backhaul.

Thanks for your inputs. I think the hdb i will move in got rj45 port in bedroom but it is directed to the db box...which means i can connect it directly to the ONT. Thr primary router should be in living room (rj45 port connected in db box also). So if i connect this in the ONT 1gb port, i should set it up with different ssid only if i want to leverage the max speeds i guess.

Not very familiar if the ONT XS-240X-A 1Gbps port works as a switch (haven't tested with my own). My other XS-250X-A ONR 1Gbps port works for LAN but it won't work properly with Easymesh because of the network topology.

DB Box is a bit tricky depending if you got 2 ports in the hall (usually 1 for IPTV & 1 for Internet). You can wire something like this depending if 1 or 2 ports then add a 2.5g switch for $30 from Mercury (TP-Link brand) on Taobao.

2 Ports: ONT (DB Box) -> Port 1 -> EB810v (Hall) -> Port 2 back to DB Box -> Switch -> Port 3/4/5 -> Mesh (Rooms)
1 Port: ONT (DB Box) -> EB810v (DB Box) -> Switch (DB Box) -> Port 1/2/3/4/5 -> Mesh (Rooms)

not sure if tplink is csb me, but they are responsive to my OCD questions gpgt

granted our eb810v is stripped down without home security etc...

take away for eb810v owners, we got a duty to email starhub at >> https://www.starhub.com/personal/forms/onlinefeedback.html

ask them to maintain a consistent update cadence for the firmware, for MLO, mu-mimo, wired mesh.

and importantly to keep the 2GB memory! i think it will be helpful for meshing and keeping hundreds of connections active! :o

unfortunately current V1 firmware dont seem to expose the 2GB, hence 55% usage we see :o

Tplink got beta 1.1.1.1 firmware for be800 that sexpose the full 2GB, hence see 28% usage Post #109

our duty as early owners is write in Starhub for timely firmware updates or at least let OCD owners manual updates to latest...

fix more bugs like download dropping....

https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/665662 @mitch92

retain and sexpose the 2GB! can be useful when playing VPN too....

those using HB810 and BE85 also do your part with singtel, MR :o

so you're saying that your current unit is installed with 2GB memory, but the 1GB is restricted due to Telco's policy?

Thanks a lot for the updates.

Kind of expected behaviour from TP-Link. They purposely do not mention the CPU, Flash size and RAM size so they can easily change the configuration as cost down measure.

From 2GB RAM to 1GB RAM sounds bad but there are other cases which may be worse.
1) Example 1: TP-Link Archer C6 v2->v3 -->v4.
v2-> v3 change: from Qualcomm chipset to MTK chipset
v3->v4 change: change chipset, reducing the RAM/Flash so that OpenWRT will no longer be supported.
https://openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/archer_c6_v2
https://openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/archer_c6_v3
https://forum.openwrt.org/t/adding-support-for-archer-c6-v4/145399

2) Example 2, TP-Link China XDR3010, no major change in CPU, Flash and RAM, but the FEM change is fatal. There are also other changes like heat sink and metal shield. Therefore the reviewer no longer recommends lower end TP-Link WiFi 6 models.

I just finished setting up my EB810v (4 units). Compared to Deco BE85 I feel it is somewhat worse even though internally it's quite similar.

There was a bug after connecting 1 of the units as it was still broadcasting a separate MLO SSID for whatever reason so I had to reset it and re-pair it again.

WOW, May I ask your type of residence requiring 4 units of EB810v?

I'm thinking of getting a 2nd EB810v to setup a Mesh network.

May I ask - is the MESH noticeably better or "worse"??

Cannot unit to unit comparison between BE95/85 and eb810v lah. Price is already a killer for the BE95/85 ah

So is MU-MIMO available in BE85?

It's for 2 storey landed. It is much better than my previous X95/XE75 mesh with only 4 units instead of 5 units I can achieve 500Mbps at the worst location because of the multiple wireless backhaul vs 1 frequency backhaul.

Actually after enabling OFDMA and getting my 10Gbps installed I can achieve 1.4Gbps with 5Ghz channel so no more complaints as that's practically same as my BE85.

I believe the EB810v has more potential because it has much more control over BE85. I can't even tell if OFDMA or MU-MIMO is enabled, disabled or working at all because the app has no mention of it. You can't change channel width (except for 5GHz) or choose channels for BE85 also.

EB810v also shows wireless strength of clients and your mesh units so very helpful in placement. Also, I think the large size plays a role in cooling because the BE85 is about half the footprint of the EB810v so it's heatsink is likely smaller. I have a 120mm fan below all of my units to blow cool air so the internal fans don't turn on.

I managed to build a mesh network with Archer AX72 as per @xiaofan suggestion (lots of them available in Carousell). Not bulky and more than enough as WiFi 7 devices still very rare atm

Please bear with me. I am quite noob with these wifi setup. I have this EB810v and 3 Deco X60. My Fiber Point is at the DB Box which is located all the way at the service balcony. I have 1 data point in the living room and another data point in my master bedroom (which I don't use because it is right behind my TV in the bedroom).

1. I set up my EB810v as Router and somehow could not add my Deco X60 to set up a Mesh network. Is it not compatible? If it is possible, can some kind souls guide me how to set it up?

2. I actually want to set up a Mesh network at home as having a router alone give me many blind spots. Currently the router is set up in the living via the data point. What is the best way to go about setting up the Mesh network? Is EB810v not compatible to set up Mesh network, then is there any other recommendation?

Thank you in advance for helping!

Q2. Can I use TP-Link EasyMesh products together with TP-Link OneMesh or Deco Mesh products?

A. Yes and No. Wi-Fi EasyMesh, TP-Link OneMesh™, and Deco Mesh are three different mesh Wi-Fi solutions provided by TP-Link. You cannot build a mesh network by mixing TP-Link OneMesh™ routers/extenders with Deco Mesh, but you can build up a mesh system with TP-Link EasyMesh and OneMesh™ devices. In other words, you can still build up a mesh network if you have “EasyMesh router + Onemesh extender” or “OneMesh router + EasyMesh extender”.
