Since you are on Starhub 5Gbps plan with Nokia ONR, I will suggest you to buy TP-Link EB810v from Starhub (check with Starhub on the pricing -- I believe you may be able to get it from Starhub at S$15 x 24 = S$360), it has higher HW spec than TP-Link Archer BE805.

TP-Link EB810v: triband BE22000, dual 10G ports + triple 2.5G LAN ports
https://www.tp-link.com/sg/service-provider/wifi-router/eb810v/

TP-Link Archer BE805: triband BE19000, dual 10G ports + quad 1G LAN ports
https://www.tp-link.com/sg/home-networking/wifi-router/archer-be805/

However, if you plan to switch to other ISPs in the future, then Archer BE805 may be a better choice as it is not tied to Starhub. It may have more firmware features than the EB810v (customized by Starhub).

Thanks much for the reply. No wonder why i am not seeing much info on eb810v on the internet compared to be805.

Has anyone tried using ethernet backhaul on 2 units of EB810v? I understand officially tp-link claims it is not supported but I saw someone on another thread mentioned it is working.

Yes it works. The software a bit buggy maybe because of my cable I can't tell what link speed it is but based on the light of my network switch it should work at 10gbps.

Thank you for the info. I'm planning to upgrade to 10Gbps plan. Can't decide if I should go for 1 unit or 2 units of EB810v. Currently I'm using ASUS RT-AC68U as main router and a ASUS repeater at second network point 11 meters way from main router. I have 2 rooms which are 10-14 meters away from main router. These 2 rooms always get weak signal if I don't use a repeater.
How good is the WIFI Mesh performance if I use wireless backhaul and can only place the second router at 10-12 meters away from main router? (in case ethernet backhaul really does not work and I can't utilise my second data network point).
Any advise should be appreciated :)

I would say the wireless backhaul is pretty good I can still get 500mbps from the mesh unit because it supports backhaul on multiple bands rather than single band like WiFi 6 units.

Wow 14m apart rooms, can get 2nd eb810v, the price is quite good for the hardware, hear SH going to release new firmware soon.

If dual ac86u works for you, dual eb810v will be better. AC wifi to BE wifi has leaps in coverage and speed even for 5ghz band

oh, I mean the farthest end of the rooms is about 14m from the main router :p. Yes, will definitely get the 2nd eb810v if they work well for my house layout.

Hi all,
I apologise for my ignorance first, total tech Nub. I m contemplating to sign up for 5gbps or the 10 gbps from starhub, and they give different routers. I have a 4 member household with 2 devices per person. Can any kind soul advice on which plan should I choose and how can I utilise it?

I just got mine setup today from Starhub, using 2x EB810V routers. I connected via ethernet backhaul, but the app still show a wireless connection. Not sure why this is the case, and if it should show a wired connection. Does anyone have a similar setup and can show the app image?

Just got the EB810V (from starhub)* but can't use the Aginet app nor the web management page since I don't know the password. Tried Starhub@123, the default wifi password and current wifi password, but didn't work. Does anyone know if they changed the default password?

Saw this notification on my phone:

mHJ5z01.jpeg

Need to tick the check box only to proceed

Bk34GBE.jpeg

And I quit the whole process not wanting them to snoop on my bridge ONR

1. That is the one of the main reason people like @firesong thinks Singtel ONR is a privacy/security risks.

ONT vs ONR
https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/...cs-of-home-networking.6653421/#post-138363236

Some people have some concerns about security and privacy of using an ONR where the ISP can access the router configuration through features like TR-069. Example posts from firesong.
https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/...-the-difference.5768534/page-3#post-128639402
https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/...-the-difference.5768534/page-6#post-130548173

2. Even if you bridge the ONR, your HB810 in router mode will still be under the control of Singtel.

If you worry about this, you have to ditch HB810 as well.

3. Technically it is the same for the Nokia XGS-PON all in one ONR used by Starhub 5Gbps users (but you can request to use ONT) as well as the TP-Link EB810v routers used by Starhub 5Gbps/10Gbps users (even if using XGS-PON ONT).

4. Reference:
1) EB810v: https://www.tp-link.com/sg/service-provider/wifi-router/eb810v/
Remote Management: TR-069 and TR-369 protocols and TAUC (TP-Link Aginet Unified Cloud) are supported.

2) HB810: https://www.tp-link.com/sg/service-provider/wifi-router/hb810/
Remote Management: TR-069 and TR-369 protocols and TAUC (TP-Link Aginet Unified Cloud) are supported.

The edge device in your house should never be under the full control of the ISP. Especially when that device also consists of your DHCP assignments (all devices at home). Your ISP also can build a patten of when you are home and out by mapping when your devices are connected.

More importantly, if your ISP can access and control it, it follows that anyone on the internet can control it with the right access information. That's a direct breach to your home network with total control. It's a sobering thought.

The above is from the following thread. For those who are worried, you may want to ditch EB810v. If you are not worried, then just continue using it.

Tried on both, doesn't work. I suspect they chose a random password and didn't tell me

hi if im using EB810v on m1, will i still get the starhub firmware pushed down?

I believe you will not get the firmware updates. That is why I do not recommend people from other ISPs to get TP-Link EB810v (locked to Starhub) or HB810 (locked to Singtel).

Take note TP-Link Archer BE805 is not locked to MR but rather a consumer model. The HW spec is not as good as EB810v though.
