TP-Link EB810v - Quick overview

One simple work-around is to use Pi-hole or Adguard Home DNS filtering. In this case, TP-Link EB810v will still the main router in the network, handling NAT and DHCP. Only the DNS server function is passed to Pi-hole or Adguard Home.

It is not that difficult to set up Pi-Hole or Adguard Home DNS as Container inside Synology NAS. So no need extra hardware.

I've been getting some unusual behaviours from the Eb810v and my devices lately:

1. The router had rebooted itself today around noon. My family and I were not at home. I received notifications from my NAS about losing and regaining imternet connection around noon. When we got home, I saw the LED of the router was lighted. I had turned it off before this. This is the second time this happened since I got the Eb810V on 10 Aug. Has anyone had this problem before?

2. My handphone has connection problem to the router. It is connected without internet. For both 5G and 2.4G WiFi. All my other devices are OK. I rebooted my phone and it still has the same problem. Anyone has this problem too? My son is gaming on the internet, so can't reboot the router yet to see if it solves the problem.

Update - just found out that all devices did not have internet connection, not just my handphone. Rebooted the router and internet was restored

Can we flash BE800 firmware? I believe @xiaofan mentioned it's the consumer version of EB810v, so they should be the same hardware underneath? BE800 already has multiple firmware upgrade on TP-Link Global website, roughly 1 new firmware every 3 months

Unfortunately I think EB810v is not the same as Archer BE800 because of different Wireless Spec.

Somebody mentioned that Singtel issued HB810 is really the same as TP-Link Deco BE85 in terms of HW.

I must be unlucky then - today I tried a fs.com DAC cable coded for TP-LINK devices (hoping for best compatibility) and it did the same as when I tried with the Ubiquity DAC - it struggles to negotiate and settles at 1000M.

When they say coded for TP-Link, I believe they mean to say that it is coded for TP-Link (small) Enterprise switches and routers with SFP+ ports, not consumer routers like EB810v...

Yeah true, but of all the types you can pick with fs.com, you'd _think_ a TP-Link one would have the best chance

Need some advice.

I recently bought the TPLink BE230 thinking I could set up a mesh network with the EB810v.

Somehow, I couldn’t set up the mesh and only found out after reading the forums here that a mesh configuration will likely work with another EB810v.

but here’s the good news, I’m still able to set up the BE230 via an ethernet backhaul and somehow it automatically configured itself as a repeater mode (I assume this is just like a wifi extender)?

Also, I’m now wondering if I can buy another TPlink wifi extender and get it to work with the EB810v? My study room still have poor wifi despite the existing EB810v and BE230 setup.

I tried the tp link BE550 which is international model that came out 1 year ago.. Until now is still like a rubbish router.. U on MLO or 6ghz or other advanced feature.. The router will ki siao one.. Tried all the official and beta firmwares.. None can work well... Just dump the rubbish tplink crap.. Get only Asus router.. Trust me.. U only want stable network and not lousy conky shitty router at home.

I have tried EasyMesh with both your models, it works. Ensure that your EasyMesh is enabled on both routers, factory reset your BE230, then find the mesh within the browser, if still cannot find, set your BE230 to EasyMesh satellite mode. If still cannot, set to satellite mode, then connect both by Ethernet cable, paired already, then disconnect the LAN cable. 1 of the method will work, I have tested compatibility for a few models, all works.

I don't have the same issues you faced, 6G pretty much remains connected, actually all 3 frequencies no problem at all. I'm on latest firmware, so far pretty stable. You want to RMA your set? Could be a hardware problem? I used to dislike TP-Link hardware, but actually really not bad, just that the configuration is a bit too simple coming from my Asus routers.

MLO work?

MLO works as I have the client to support it, I'm using Pixel 9PXL, but due to MLO tech still being quite new, the speed is still slower than 1 single 6G band, therefore I'm just using 6G. I will try MLO again and get back to you.

The MLO support now a bit complicated, some clients can connect to 2 bands, some can connect to 3 bands.
