Audio and display appeared for a short while and went intermittent before becoming no display and no sound, indicating lights still on and blink when i depressed the buttons on the remote control.
What is the cost of repair?

Philips 42" Tv is super cheap so no point repairing.

I am thinking of getting a Sony W800C or Samsung Ku6000 at harvey norman. Should I pay extra for extended 2 years warranty? Is it worth it?

Did you hot swap HDMI cables?
That's one way to fry the HDMI board.
That's not cheap to repair.. good luck and hope it works out.

What do you nean hot swap?
It suddenly happened. Never touch anything.

Hot swap -> Disconnect/reconnect with tv power switched on.

If still can not work meant motherbroad faulty. HDMI is part of the motherbroad. Quite expensive to repair and may be after sometime power broad may become faulty too.

Been quoted 300 Inc labour repair my old sharp 46le830. Motherboard failure. Hope to pass to my inlaws who are using 40" 1080i TV.

The thing is i alrdy paid upfront 40 for travel n labour. Mentality tell me if dont repair bo hua lugi 40 for nothing. Warranty 3mths n can last 2-3 yrs normally he said.

Not worth repairing, it will cost u more in future. Powerboard may be faulty later. Just get a new set. $40 is nothing. Why give a faulty set to others? Nowadays TV is so cheap.

Hi all, need advise whether to repair my 4yrs + SAMSUNG 55" C8000 3D Led tv.
Has been working fine..few days ago suddenly encounter double image issue.

May be get a quotation on tbe cost of the repair then see whether u want to repair. 55" is not small and some more it is 3D Tv. I guess it cost at least $400+ to 600+. It is still worth repairing because a new 55" 3D tv cost at least ~ $3k.

Hi, thanks for your reply. i had text and send the pics both Yi Leng electronics and another repair guy.both of them said cant be repair because its panel issue.

one of them offer to accept trade in and wanna sell me a used 46" tv..still need to top up $400.

do you have any repair guy to share so i can get a quote?

Only Samsung has the spare part so do call them. I like to watch 3D movies (blu ray) so i also have a LG 3D Tv.

I have a LG 55LE5700 bought in mid 2010, just blacked out on us one fine day. It can be powered on using remote and even the 'front touch screen panel' on tv has the beeping sound when pressed but just black screen (no image). Anyone has any idea what could be the issue and is it worth repairing? It was quite expensive when i bought it in 2010...

I finally got my LG tv fixed by LG, cost me about $380 - $200 for the motherboard (which can only get from LG) and $180 for the repairman to come to fix it. It took less than 20 mins.

Guess we have no choice nowadays, that we have to get LG or Samsung to service the tv. I believe, given the technology, it is possible to set a 'expire date' to the motherboard, meaning that i will self-destruct when it passes the warranty period. Just my guess...

It is because manufacturers control the part and refuse to sell unless you get their repair man.

Looks like getting an extended warranty is a good idea from the bigger shops is a good idea.
