You guys here mostly do clean install or dirty install?

Was thinking to do a clean install since I don't have a bazillion of programs and I have all the necessary installaters of the progs on my HDD drive liao.

The only annoyance is to install back my FFXIV game which would be ****ing 30GB DL (all the patches and stuff + expac). :s22:

You need to upgrade to Win 10 first before doing a clean install.

I'm on Current Branch for Business, so will receive updates a few months later than the rest.

How to change to Current Branch for Business? My windows update only have the defer upgrade option.

"Defer Upgrade" will put you on the Current Branch for Business upgrade cycle. Security updates will continue to install automatically but other upgrades will be installed a few months after Win 10 Home users get them.

Just performed a clean install from iso after upgrading from windows 7.

1. W10 activated itself without having to enter and cdkey
2. I did not have to install any usb3.0, marvell, bluetooth drivers... Everything worked out of the box.
3. I loaded the new nvidia driver in .exe onto my thumbdrive and installed from there rather than through windows update. Disconnect the internet during OS installation and only connect after installing the driver so wiondows wont auto install.
4. My crucial M4 worked immediately after the upgrade, but windows failed to detect it after the clean install. It was detectable in bios thoughout. I did a firmware update from 000f to 070h and now it works fine. 070h is not a new w10 firmware, it is already 2 years old.
5. The realtek audio software that is installed automatically through windows update is slightly different. I am running a 5.1 audio system through analog output. The new software switches the side and back audio output. The only way to enable proper sound is to force it to run in 7.1 audio and disabling the 2 "side" speakers from software.

A clean install takes 17gb. Installation creates a 500mb system reserve space.
