Definitely agree, especially for Singapore where we need to monitor unwanted guest.
The case in point was the Bangladeshi preacher who used a different passport to enter Singapore successfully and preached his poison to foreign workers in Tuas.
To follow-up on my episode at Woodlands CIQ, the aged mother did encounter delays when her turn came, as she did not look at the camera properly. She was requested to have her fingerprint scanned repeatedly. Some people, especially the elderly and foreigners, do need staff assistance to clear the eGate.

Yesterday evening entry into Johor Bahru via egate seem having issue with Singapore passport. Quite a lot of Singaporean not able clear the egate, included us. There was a guard asking Singaporean went to counter for a manual chop.

went to jb on tues and went thru immigration via egate without filling mdac or any previous registration, quite smooth just like woodlands side. They camera respond so fast a bit like going thru motion :s13:. With this convenience and now that they have more buses to different malls and places of interest, may go walk walk more frequent. many sg aunties and old folks already going there like seasoned travellers. Another plus for egate is no longer worry about what could happen if an officer try to chut pattern. On that day when the officer see queue forming up he even call out sg passport holder to use the egate .

I have not gone to Malaysia for a long time. So do I still need to register for MDAC prior to my trip, or can go directly to the E-gate now?

Anyone used e-gate to enter JB but fly out from KL? Scared KL side no records then cannot exit from there.

Taking a bus from SG to KL and fly back,

Unlikely to be a problem. People do this all the time. Not very different from entering via 2nd Link, where they stamp, and exiting via JB CIQ with the E-Gate. I have also left via the Thai border with no fuss.

Thanks for the reply.

Got stamp confirm no problem. Its the e-gates that I'm skeptical. During the days when I had MACS, their system don't talk and I was turned back at KLIA and had to take a bus to JB and exit from there :(

MACS was a different animal though. It was a JB-specific system i supposed and e-gates is federal-linked (I hope)...

You got it right...
My post (July 2023) was in response to @beanstalk6's experience - read around my post...
For MACSv01, I remembered MY's Immigration Officer advising me that it is only for Entry & Exit to JB. I cannot use it for Entry into JB & fly out from MY or even fly to Penang.

However for MACSv02 the above doesn't apply, per JB's CIQ Officer when I asked.
If not mistaken @Aaagogo Exit MY to TH via land this way too, after entering JB via E-Gate.

My exit via Thailand is a more relevant example for you then- I did not get a stamp at JB.

That one that day JB officer said want use eGate also can, to exit.
i mean i can't understand their logic. since they add egate to exit why not add egate to entrance as well?

fortunately they did a good job stamping on my passport :)

There are eGates at 2nd Link and they're in the front building. Last I was there, that building was closed for some works so we'd to go to the other building for manual immigration clearance aka stamp.
