Can I use auto gate on train checkpoint if I'm enrolled?
I've only returned from JB on the train and yes, eGates works for us too.

As for SG>JB, have also read that there's none for us.

still waiting for feedback when ever the finger scans are up again for us to enroll............
Read that an officer told someone to try again next month...

Question, when submitting the MDAC we have to fill up arrival and departure date. What happen if we miss the departure date (returning to Singapore)? Resubmit again with the new departure date? What about the arrival date? Anyone?

It's ok with a different departure date. One tip my wife gave is that u can always put your departure like 7 days later even though u will return in less than that, and still can work

Assuming you meant you have registered for MACSv02, I think so but please check when you reached Penang.

So make sure you have registered for MACSv02, registering for MDAC doesn't count - you submit MDAC, you don't register for MDAC.

Registration for MACSv02 at JB CIQ Sultan Iskandar Building, as far as a few days back, has been suspended pending availability of finger print scanning machines ...not sure about Tuas side though.

However I presume you can still register for MACSv02 at Penang but submit your MDAC prior to arrival.

Please let us know how you fared with this. Thanks.

hi everyone, one of my frens encountered what seems to be an uncommon situation

Last Friday, my friend did the registration online to use MDAC while at City Square (JB) already. Advised to clear JB manual immigration and ask the officer if the access to use MDAC can be activated.

My friend directly went over to the e-gate, forgetting to clear immigration manually. To his surprise (later), he was cleared at the e-gate.

Question - would he get into any trouble by not having cleared JB immigration manually?

Thanks in advance.

A person submit MDAC, a person does not register for MDAC.

Prior to this incident was he registered for MACSv02?

Who advised him to Exit via Manual Counter?

Don't know whether he has got into trouble or not. Only way to find out is to go JB again.
MY's system I believe has some lobangs, so see whether he will be "advised" when he goes in again.

I have just get back from JB this weekend. I made an online registration before I approached the manual counter.

My passport was returned as usual. I asked if I can go to the automated lane when I exit from JB. The answer is NO.

The reason is they cannot register my finger print. Their machine is down. I asked the officer when it will be ready to take finger prints again. Most probably next month.
Whats the point in registering your fingerprints when we do not need to scan our fingerprints when we use their autogates. o_O

My guess is like similar to SG, finger scanning comes into play when the facial one fails. But that's only my guess.

No one here can give you a definite answer. When you next clear JB immigration, you might want to try approaching that booth behind the far right and ask them instead. That is, if you have to know.

MACS2.0 registration is supposed to be done when we enter JB, not when we exit. We need to file MDAC before going to the manual counter for the one-time MACS2.0 registration. On subsequent trips, file MDAC before reaching JB immigration, then we can use the eGates.

And yes, he'll only know if there's trouble on his next visit.

I doubt they do facial scan at their auto gate. Reason being they did not register our facial biometric when we first do our registration at the manned counter before we could use their auto gate.

If they are not doing finger print scanning and facial scanning at their auto gate, what are they actually doing. 😅

Beats me. I fit, I sit. The eGate opens, I go through. Why think so much when I'm not doing anything illegal? 🤷‍♂️

Recently I went in through the e-gate in JB and observed what was happening at the screens at waist level. First they scan the passport, but where my face is was blank. After a while, my passport face appeared - I figure this is the image kept on the biometric chip.
After going in the first gate, I could see the camera software detect my face and draw a green rectangle around it. Then the face recognition goes into action and I'm through! I think it's faster than the SG system.
