Just curious. How fast is your 4G/LTE speed with vivifi?

I just recently ported over from giga to vivifi and I'm getting 30-40 mbps onyl (from fast/speednet)

Previously my giga consistently scored 160-180 mbps. A bit surprised. I thought singtel would be better

depending on location, vivifi can get above 100Mbps also but i agree that starhub network does go higher most of the time.. but i guess it could be due to singtel network has more users thus lower in speed.

Ah. Never knew that before.

Hopefully, I'm making the right decision trading speed with network reliability

I've also noticed a drop in Speed over the past year. When I first signed up the previous year, it was pretty fast - on LTE, I could consistently hit 130Mbps at many outdoor places (so it's not using the indoor cells). Now it's much lower.

I've also noticed that network quality seems to coincide with the increasing/decreasing MVNOs (ie, additional users = additional load on the network). With Vivifi and ZYM being quite aggressive now, it could make Singtel's network a little more congested. It could in some ways explain Starhub's better speeds now - they have only one MVNO left under them iirc, whereas Singtel seems to be aquiring, and M1 has a lot. The "unlimited data" bundles don't help matters, even if throttled.

However, speedtests are not everything - most of the time we can still work reasonably well even with "30Mbps" speeds, so we won't really feel it. We will feel the loss of coverage much more (and that's my push from M1 based Changi Mobile).

Again, it's all location based - so the current advise is to try and see if it works for you. M1 may be poor for many but could be fantastic for some. If you are typically confined to a few fixed places 90% of the time (work, home, school, place of worship, etc...) it could work well. If your job requires you to go to various locations across the island and hence no fixed locations, it could be an issue for some networks over others. There's no perfect 100% coverage network, but some do better than others. For me, it's ST and SH that seem to cover 100% of my use cases, but when it comes to a work line, I need to be judicious (since I call patients from that line too).

Likewise. I used to get 130Mbps or more at home, but now it's dropped to around that too. Some days, especially when it's raining, it's even lower.

Not really an issue since I'm on wifi at home, but I do test accessing stuff from outside the network so occassionally I get on mobile data and tether a laptop just for that.

yes, i believe it is due to the no of users at the location concurrently that causes it.

Trying my luck but anyone here currently own both VVF and TPG lines or previously using TPG but changed to VVF, can comment on the signal coverage and stability between the 2? I am currently on TPG and the issue i have is that when at home, my phone's signal bar keeps fluctuating between 2-3 bars and can never get stable full bars. Its the same when i tested across few different phones. And i think this is causing abnormal battery drain during phone standby.
Depending on your location, my tpg minus 1 bar as compared to Singtel signal

M1 signal is also minus 1 bar

Starhub forgot liao

OpenSignal also reported the same thing; StarHub users are consistently getting higher speed in the past year. Not significantly higher though, only 8 Mbps.

I do agree that speed is not everything. Coverage, response time, price plan value are also important. 30-40 Mbps is enough for most people (games, youtube, netflix)

What does the following mean
Unlimited basic Internet

Customers on VIVIFI Plus (9GB) plan get to enjoy unlimited basic Internet. To ensure fair usage, connection will be at managed speeds when your data usage exceeds 9GB. The speed will be reset at the next billing cycle.

Chey, found it.
What happens if you go beyond the allotted data cap? Users will have their data speeds throttled from 4G speeds to “unlimited basic Internet” which is Vivifi lingo for slowing data usage to 256Kbps

I have seen others posted in FB the speed is slower than 256 kbps anyone tried?

That's about right.

Their porting in service comes after the line activation. So technically, you can apply for the service on 18 Feb and activate it, then submit the number porting request to happen the next day.

Anyone switched from M1 to VIVIFI? Is it better to sign up for a new line first then port the M1 number over?

Another thing is the transfer of ownership. Current M1 line is not under my name so I would like to do a switch.

Just wanna find out if anyone did something similar and is the whole process smooth?

You have to sign up a new line and activate it before you can initiate the porting process. And yes, you can transfer the line to your name when you port.

Their FAQ also clarifies this:
I have submitted the Mobile Number Porting request but have yet to receive/collect my VIVIFI SIM. Will porting take place immediately?
No, number porting will only take place after you have submitted the Mobile Number Porting request and your new VIVIFI SIM has been activated. Number porting will not take place if either one of the above has not been completed.

Thanks for this. Any idea if older phones like iPhone 6s is supported on Vivifi?

I helped my niece switch her number from M1 under her father's name to Vivifi under her name. Change of ownership is easy. When request for port in, need to scan owners IC also. OTP will be sent to the port in number to verify. Process was smooth.

I personally prefer to get the SIM card first and try out the signal etc before request for port-in. Eg if you collect SIM card at 2pm, can test for a couple of hours. Call, SMS, use data based on temp number. If satisfied, can submit port in request before cutoff time (can't remember exact time should be in late afternoon or evening), and port-in will trigger same night (except weekends, PH and eve of PH).

Just take note of 2 things :
1. Vivifi bills monthly. So if activate SIM card nearer end of the month, it is prorated to remaining days and can be quite tight to last till end of month. Feb is a short month so be careful.

2. Vivifi now has option to apply with myinfo or without myinfo. The activation method and time is different. So read up the difference before deciding whether to apply with myinfo or not.

Definitely no issue, since it's not dependent on VoLTE (there's no VoLTE) unlike TPG.

You can even use a 3G capable "not-smart" phone if you want.
