Hello all, I was wondering if they have auto roaming? Their FAQ don't seem to be very clear-cut on this part but just mentioned about activating roaming before going overseas.. I would like to know if they can receive SMSes overseas because I am not based in Singapore.. thanks~~
Can.

i would recommend prepaid (save more bucks)

Thank you! Not looking at prepaid cause I need a postpaid plan and not looking to give up my number too,but thank you for that :)

The absolute cheapest plan right now with international roaming should be zero1's $6.90 starter pack. Might want to have a look at that

Port-in was successful without any trouble. Goodbye Changi it was a good trip, but I had difficulty reconciling it with the multiple airport encounters a day. :( CM line went down at 11pm, and new number was done by 12.57am.

Downtime is stated from 11pm to 2am for most telco.
Within 2 hours should be ok. You still can use vivifi data while it port in.

If I were at home, I'd be using wifi. :)

But someone works night shift (eg Nurses), then those timings are really bad - cannot call doctors in emergencies. Just imagine, someone's parent needs an urgent call for the doctor and the nurse has to rush out to the Nurse's station to get to the land line, check phone for doctor's number, and call from there... Can easily be wasting minutes away from the patient. Now with staffing so tight because of Covid, it's worse cos night shift has minimum crew.

Nurses also have offday bah 🤔

Plus most usually rotate, not permanent night shift

Yeah, but you also can't always choose your handover dates - sometimes it fails and then they retry the next day.

My sis is a nurse, and at the time we transferred to Singtel and had the porting in, was on night shift and her phone went dead when they happened to need to call the doctor. So the scenario did happen because we signed up on her off day and the porting that night failed, and they retried the next day while she was on night shift. She had to call a doctor but the SIM card happened to go dead. Had to yell for a colleague to call the doctor, get a "I don't have his number" / "cover my patient while I call" drama.

Not funny when we heard. Lucky patient was okay.

Huge respect for what nurses do!

Really tough times for them now. Hope your sis is doing okay.

Mine's currently working in an acute Covid-19 ward, so we worry a lot for her. Her colleagues have been going down, so sis has even had to go in on her rest day.

Yep. Sorry for getting sidetracked about a porting issue that does affect people's jobs and lives, contrary to common assumption. :p
