That one is the old school news where 3 telcos try to play punk. Now every telco give you 50gb for $20. Later will be blood bath. If they don’t offer competitive price, then I stay 4g and don’t move to 5g. Lol! I don’t do augmented/ virtual reality/ metaverse. You need so fast?
The word you are looking for is oligopoly. ;) Where every player in the industry artificially controls conditions by some form of informal control, such that all their offerings are generally similar. Can understand why IMDA 1) allowed TPG to come in despite their protests, and 2) opened up to MVNOs to manipulate and allow market forces to drive prices downwards.

That said, the 3 main telcos are not naive to conditions. They realise they have a competitive advantage in 5G SA, which they do not have to give to MVNO partners if they choose not to. It's another round of negotiations across the board for now. It's important to note that capex (ie, capital expenditure, or the upfront cost for equipment and other related installations) must be recouped as soon as possible before they can talk about lowering prices. At its core, they are businesses for-profit, not subsidised service providers. It doesn't help that they have stakeholders and shareholders to account themselves to.

Deloitte summarises it quite nicely when it observes “telco companies have finally lost the end-user control points they cherished for so long. To remain relevant, telcos have gone back to taking over full control over the network technology where they still have their core competencies." The old monetisation models are no longer relevant - long profit contracts are not sustainable where alternatives allow for network churn at low cost; we consumers also know the costing of a plan, and with the proliferation of cheap phones from China, it makes signing long contracts not financially viable. Where the telcos control the situation is in their infrastructure, and this is where they can monetize while MVNOs and other B2B partners must negotiate contracts anew.

anyone know if Vivifi supports calls forwarding?

For example if the phone is switched OFF, anyone who call the Vivifi mobile number gets redirected to another mobile/landline phone number.

Can't find anything about forwarding on their support website.

The Vivifi plus plan is also a good deal at $11.

Anyway, does anyone here use Vivifi on a Pixel phone? Are there any issues?

Signed up on a weekend, self collected SIM card the next day and mobile number successfully ported over (from previous MNO) the following day.
Total time taken was about 48 hours.

Vivifi emails (with embedded links) were very comprehensive and helpful, guiding the subscriber from the start of sign up to successful mobile number port in (MNP).

The MNP process is triggered only upon activation of SIM card AND successful submission of port in request.
The MNP status can be tracked from within the ViViFi account (via an email embedded link).
Not needing the temporary number provided, I chose to insert the Vivifi SIM card only after confirming that the MNP status was successful.

The only thing odd was a Vivifi sms received instructing me to insert the SIM card three days after I had done so !

So far, everything is working very well.
