mono usually more siong unit selection?
MONO intake means posted straight to the combat unit on your first day of enlistment. You will start your BMT at the unit with the sergeant trainers or section commanders for 3 months. After 3 months, this batch will be operational ready. You will be stuck in this unit with the rest of your BMT mates until you all ORD together, and also reservist together. Your rank will not promote higher than corporal first class.

NORMAL INTAKE means straight to BMT school at tekong (my time still got Nee Soon). After 3 months BMT, they will access if you're worthy of becoming a officer, specialist or support unit soldier (armor, signals, engineer, artillery, medics, etc). Then they post you all to different schools (OCS or SCS) or straight to combat support units for your vocations.

OCS and SCS will continue training until they pass out as officer (2nd Lieutenant) and sergeant (3rd sergeant) respectively.

But of course there are always special cases where a MONO intake fellow is so good and well-loved by his superior that he goes on to become sign-on officer during his NSF.

Think mono means you are in that particular unit FOREVER
It can mean they post you to OCS etc but you'll go back same unit or post you to other courses

Which will be funny cos if you are an officer , you'll go back and "lead" same people who can be your classmates and they've been doing same shite for close to 1 year without your excellent leadership
ehhhhh.... no.

i was assigned my vocation and then after my trade course, i was sent out to a completely unit.

but of course, out of the whole battalion, only 2 people got completely posted out to a much better unit. So i wouldn't say it's "forever".

mono lower IQ

i was from mono
true that.

i refused to drop my IQ for the 2mths I was in there. Got it rough from the other gangster and pukes alike.

not sure what happened, the new RSM suddenly wanted to speak to me after range and not sure what happened administratively behind, it ended up me being posted out.

heard that SAF have your life history and will look through the intake for "abnormalities" and send them to specialised, classified or different service after BMT.

Oh wait, the Army 21 directive not started yet?
Before I RODed, Artillery was planning to moving towards sort of Mono concept ler.
Ppl will enlist together for BMT, split for specialised vocations then merge back to the
same unit. This way ppl work with "familiar faces" and the unit can plan
exercises more effectively. The understanding of orbat would be better as the whole unit
structure geared towards the same objective.

During my time is Normal, so I dont get to see all my pals after BMT.
But I am lucky in a way that my recourse buddy remain my buddy throughout my NSF time
from BMTC to Vocation to Unit.

think my CPL was one of those.

ended up he became trainer in SIR unit. Saw him and recognized him during my very short reservist, but I dun mingle with any of my NSF folks so I din bother chumming it up with him.

Could be other reason like other units need some one of your vocation more urgently so you're thrown out
