any review on the fabric used by this company? are they legit?
Indian mills will not surpass European mills for suiting and trousers wool at this stage, not for next 10-15 years too because European mills pay top dollar for long and fine wool, cashmere, etc. Their supply chain the best. There are marked Differences for suiting and trousers fabrics btw European Mills and Asian mills, e,g no Asian mill can produce wool, silk, linen blend fabric and the super number on selvedge of Asian fabrics is fake.

the difference for cotton shirting fabrics is not as great as suiting fabrics , because xinjiang cotton, Egyptian giza cotton are also available to Asian mills. A lot of cotton fabrics are made from Chinese, Thai, japanese, Indian cotton mills and their quality is acceptable.

I hope its not polyester lining! I personally do without the lining in my trousers as much as possible.

its a silk material lining. from the waist of pants to the knees. front and back of pants
i also don't want the lining but the inner pants material is really rough and static making it uncomfortable to wear.

I thought lining on pants was a hygiene thing. To catch piss and poop
Wah lau don't go commando lah.

Lining theoretically prevents cling and by extension improves the drape of the trousers. It also protects the wearer from fabric with an emunpleasant texture.

Personally I find that SG is so humid that the lining makes the trousers feel extremely swampy. I've sent my trousers to have the lining removed.

To prevent the need for lining
1) Get fabric that has a nice hand feel and decent weight
2) Don't get trousers that are cut too slim, this will minimise fabric cling and allow air to circulate

When you sweat, the lining in trousers really uncomfortable.

I find a lot of old tailors in China and Singapore will put lining, if you do not specify when making trousers and using full wool or mohair blend because they think it will protect the inner side of full wool from wear and full wool is expensive to them. Actually the purpose of getting full wool trousers is because full wool is breathable, so that is the irony.

Yes it is quite strange indeed, but at the same time, they always tell me it's for protection against itchiness. Maybe should try the one with no lining to see if really itchy

Itchiness is subjective. If itchiness, should ask customer first, I wear mohair blend trousers also can bear the itchiness, but cannot bear the stickiness

How come your shirt more expensive than your pants? Normally pants more expensive than shirt, unless it’s polyester pants. Wool pants definitely more expensive than cotton shirts.

I think in this world, there are people with too much money to spend and ignorant of market prices. Some splurge on food, some on women, there will be some who will spend on Ascottage suits because of their branding.

it’s like some people spend $300 eating omakase, while you spend $3 eating at Seah Im market, it’s still a meal and food to fill your stomach.

but seriously, if you have the money, spend more at least to tailor wool blend trousers, and cotton shirts, it’s better for your comfort and mood if your clothes are breathable.

Yup. Mine is polyester pants. Next time I try wool pants. Usually in aircon room so I thought polyester pants are ok. Now with more wfh, need to tailor less because don’t really need to go office everyday.

Hehe! Feels quite ok for me. I try a wool one when Seah Im opens. I think it cost around $70 or $80. Can’t really remember.
I wish our tailor can use more innovative fabrics. Uniqlo has those stretchable type which look really sleek and expands when you sit down

How’s everyone wearing your new tailored clothes for the CNY period?

anyway, GQ taiwan organising the annual suit walk in Taipei on 11 Mar, for those sartorial brothers , you may want to have some fun. Incidentally, I will be in Taipei on 11 Mar, but I will only arrive in the afternoon, so will not be able to participate in the suit walk.

side point: you noticed the inflation in prices listed by local tailors?

I didn't get to wear my new shirt from collaro. There's a huge collar gap so I dont even know if it can be fixed. Else it's $180 down tbe drain.
