For example blk 34 bedok, the old school HDB folks did a great job, like what happened.

I seen my friends BTOs in Tampine, the long corridor and metal grilles looks damn depression, this is just a personal opinion it kind of reminds me of DB, eerie vibes

They need a lot of space around each block. Land is a high-premium item nowadays.

A point block is a flat, a condo is also a flat. Any flat that you can stay in and has liveable space is a good flat. :o

I mean studies must be done to see the minimally space between units etc. for example ceiling heights , if too low it is quite stressful
Believe the same is for privacy sake. There must be a min. distance spacing between window views?

Physiologically all these constraints adds a mental burden on quality of life in terms of overall happiness outlook towards life, holistically this is a chicken and egg situation, make bigger house first, let people happy and then decide to bring children because there is somethjng to live for.

Nowadays i visit the bto is, 2 units side by side then a corridor to the next 2 units which is some distance away. Even if there are other units right next to yours , the corridors are not directly connected. So it is a kind of point block.

New flat is like few point block tower combine together with link bridge.
To save on the lift cost.

if 1 building only have 4 unit then the lift will be too much.

HDB getting smaller is an issue even academia has raised to HDB. Hdb dont care , often citing families are smaller.

People have also commented that there is something called ā€œstatic spaceā€ in homes where there are stuffs that cant shrink. Fridges are the same size if not bigger, furnitures are not getting smaller bec your household are smaller. Ovens, hanging rack, washing machines etc. You get the idea. All these items are not smaller while HDB continuously shrink the homes . If you see an empty room , people might actually try for a kid, not if that space is filled up.

This was raised in a youtube podcast and HDB retort was , there are couples who buy 5 rooms and hack down all the walls! Really really insensitive to the issue the vast majority have with hdb size.

Those are a slab hybrid

a pure point blk, defined as

    • ā€œDesign: Point blocks have four units on each floor, which provides more privacy than the slab blocks that were previously the standard. ā€œ

We all want quality and premium

Right universal standards in life

u want creative people, productive,

but if still, have to spend hundreds of thousands for a factory , dorm like corridors for long term living

It is depressing .

then people want equality also, people got garden, balcony, amply foliage,

my pt is what is the min. standard, my Point is the old guards did a better job in hdb

nowadays the new bto is just meh. Opinion i really feel there no innovation or improvement,
In the design

its just bunks,

Look too nice for peasants. Must give off eerie DB vibes then your lord and masters at Ridout can sleep soundly.
