U also need to check out the breathablity if the fabric.

Some is keep out cold very well but cannot breath, end up your sweat will be trapped inside the jacket and will feel ery lousy. Then once u take it off to let the sweat out, you are exposed to cold air
But sometimes no choice

This is usually when happens to me when I go skiiing hahah

Perspire like mad when I am skiing and then I have to go indoor to strip down and cool off

Yup it's easy to underestimate how cold 10ish degrees is. Especially coupled with wind
Yes, wind chill is the killer cos that strips the heat away from our bodies very fast

I usually get a good scarf to help with the wind and stand by a beanie in case the wind gets crazy

Haha if doing vigourous exercise, probably not much can help.

Actually I never had this problem until I using current jacket, really traps alot of perspiration just from normal walking around. Guess after this trip, will not use it much already

for -10 and above, i personally use the following, otherwise too hot indoor..

a normal short sleeve t-shirt, uniqlo airsm or any other cotton t-shirt (this is replaced by a cotton business shirt if work), a long sleeve wool/cashmere sweater, can also be from uniqlo and if work only, my wool business suit and finally then a canada goose parka as the final outer layer(this is the one that is most impt).

cashmere scarf for comfort, otherwise a wool scarf works too but i do recommend cashmere, feel more comfortable..

gloves from dents. they ship to sg without vat and it is very worth it.. mine is cashmere lined deerskin.

a wool cap if needed but i usually just use my parka hood.

for bottom, first of all, of course my usual underpants/wear, a long legging if very cold but i skip this if not outdoor most of the time, can be from uniqlo but i personally like merino wool or cashmere, then jeans for leisure/offwork or wool pants if work

socks, get wool or merino wool socks, can be any brand, uniqlo also have, most impt is the material, then boots or business shoes depending on occasion. shoes must be waterproof so business shoes have to be genuine leather, dun use normal running shoes we usually use in sg, buy hiking boots is safest or shoes that is waterproof, your socks have to be dry..

Agreed totally!!
My recent trip to Yamagata, up on the Mountain Zao, even though the temperature was in the teens, the wind chill temp was just crazy, moi just wore jeans only, though was 3 layers on the body, its was terribly cold and I was shivering away………lol

Think i will rent the ski wear and for hiking i will be in the merino wool, fleece and down with hard shell
shopping and walk in city just thermal base wool and fleece.
Need to find gloves, shoes and socks for hiking
U want cheap go to KL, universal traveller, with good design also.

Just bought each for a family of 4 about 350sgd each for inner, middle and outer jacket for ski trip, -20 and below. Proper ski gear, not those hiking upsold as ski gears.

The only negative is the shops dont sell boots and helmet/goggles.

Similar set for decathlon will cost u close to 900sgd each.

Did you go SIlfra Fissure diving between tectonic plates? I thought usually those are done with vendors who will include filming for you?
I went and tge dive was called off due to current "too strong" according to the guide. My wife and I were all suited out in our drysuits when they called it off. Drove all the way there for nothing.

The place where my gopro died was in Norway, hunting for halibut and king crabs. Didn't get any halibut, got a few cods and pollack.

For decades was Patagonia capilene thermal & 2 sets of Northface Triclimates- one standard set , one Gortex. Very lasting till parts of fabric started flaking. Face merino wool balaclava, the issue is mainly if wear glasses the breathe can condense and form a thin frost behind the glasses. Finger dexterity is another issue esp when taking photos with cameras.

Ever got to try reindeer hide for activities in Finnish winters, that one is the real deal, body warm and cosy even with winds and -30+ deg c temps, tiagong the magic lies in their hollow core hair.

Nowadays dun really go very cold countries, my el cheapo Uniqlo HEATTECH and discounted winterwear suffice..

Yup iPhone. But not just my phone dying, others too. It was fully charged but it will suddenly shut down. So after learning this on my first day, I learnt to not expose my phone for too long, always keep it back in my pocket where I have a warmer and hold it against a warm if the phone starts to feel cold.
Ah! I think I know what you mean. It happens to my go pro and ski goggles camera when there is wind chill and temp is -20.

You leave phone out exposed to cold too long. Take the photo then put it back in your warm pccket should last longer.
