The thing is all bluetooth codec available so far is still lossy compression, even LDAC@990 or AptX HD. So if you are often using bluetooth headphones or earbuds, its pointless to get anything more than MP3@320 (lossy). Lossless audio sources is pointless if you are using bluetooth audio devices as your main daily source.
Yeah.. that's the point. With a compressed audio source and a lossy compression methodology in general bluetooth use, there isn't any much improvement in the so called sound quality. What people are paying for in the more premium earpieces is mainly the sound signature and tuning which, subjectively, pleases more people.
Which is why I don't really bother too much about 'sound quality' in bluetooth devices, and place heavier emphasis on 'features'.
When I want higher quality audio (lossless) and do subscribe to Roon, I will need to do something about my destructive habits to wired earpieces.

PS: It seems that qualcomm is excluding aptx HD in their newer, more premium chips and replace it with aptx adaptive with variable bitrate. Although aptx adaptive is not able to hit the 576kbps of aptx HD, its able to variable stream various bitrates in accordance to situation. Like streaming at the lower bitrate to as low as 280kbps in crowded areas flooded with competing wireless signals. This probably will mean lower latency and less breaks in crowded areas.
