Hi guys, how does the various brands compare?

- Ed at al, carmina, meermin, llyr?

Not sure how you came up with these 4 brands for comparison.

As someone mentioned earlier, carmina is clearly of a higher quality than the other 3 brands, justifiably so given a significant price premium.

Meermin can be of hit or miss quality. Pretty good value (subject to USD appreciation though) if you don't get unlucky. You have to figure your size etc cos there is no retail presence in SG.

Ed and llyr are local brands with retail presence within walking distance (Millennia and Suntec respectively), so I suggest u can personally pay a visit and form your own opinion. Price wise I think LLYR slightly cheaper.

carmina and meermin will be a good choice

Lol how did you come to the conclusion that Carmina and Meermin can be compared?

I say if OP is considering between those lists, I assume that budget is not an issue and just buy Carmina from Capitol.

Robinson every month will have 15-20% discount. For Loake 1880 range, even after the discount, still qualify for free shipping and no GST.

Herring doesn't have frequent discount, less their own Herring brand (which u can also try, good value for money). Shipping by DHL, extra 20 UKP. Plus DHL will bill u GST + $20 admin fee if total price including shipping is more than S$400.

Eg Churchill without discount is UKP 180. Add UKP20 for shipping, total more than S$400 liao. GST and $20 admin charges waiting for u when touch down SG.

So now I buy Loake and Barker from Robinson, Herring from Herring.

ps : I also have a pair of Loake Churchill. The G width is very wide, will have loose space even for my F width foot.

Hi there,

Thanks for the info! But actually now Robinsons' is charging UKP214 for Churchill, so I would also have to pay GST + admin charges if I bought it now right? Robinsons also uses DHL?

So for Churchill did you downsize, do you think you have room for downsizing? I'm afraid if I don't downsize by 0.5 it will be too wide on the side, but I'm also worried that if I downsize, it'll be too tight lengthwise or at the heel.

Robinsons doesn't use DHl. They use the Royal Mail, the British Postal service IIRC. Delivery time is under 2 weeks.
