They are fine. The creases in shoes are inevitable (especially at around the area where the toes flex as you walk). However, creases in other parts of the shoes are normally a result of the type (or quality) of leather used. My 2cents.

Just nourish, clean and shine your shoes once a while. They will look better, no matter how they look before you start.

You are right that creases are inevitable, and they can be reduced by inserting shoe trees after every wear (and of course, shoe rotation).

Creases on the vamp and other parts of the shoes are largely due to our feets not fitting the shoe well enough, amongst other factors like quality/type of leather and manufacturing errors.

e.g. Singaporeans tend to prefer a roomier fit (as opposed to Europeans who will prefer their shoes snug), this may result in unsightly creases across the vamp.

e.g. Gents who tend to wear their shoes by pressing against the heel andor without using shoe horn. In the long run, these causes the heel counter to collapse, it wrecks the topline and results in creases, especially along the median (inner feet) side.

If your around the CBD area, try SOLE-MANN at 11 Collyer Quay (The Arcade) or One Raffles Place. I find their jobs to be of a higher standard as compared to others within the industry.

A damp, not wet, cloth can be a substitute. Although for dusting out hard to reach areas, the horsehair brush is still the way to go.

Nourish = substance penetrates the leather and nourishes the fibres
Shine = a top layer that sits on top of the leather, acting like a protective barrier against grim/dirt/rain, while providing the sheen

thx for the advice dude! any idea whats the price range lk at SOLE-MANN?

Hi people, hope you can advise me on how to maintain your leather shoes.

Currently for outdoor boots like dr martens/timberland, I'm using dubbins only & monk oil for formal leather shoes.

I understand after reading up that mink oil should be avoided. Moving forward on new & old formal shoes, what would you guys recommend for maintenance & shine? I'm thinking lexol for maintenance/conditioning & saphir for shine but both are not easily found locally or cheap. Any other suggestions/recommendations?

Some of my friends are using Red Wing Leather Cleaner. Seems not bad but I'm not exactly sure of the exact type for your boots and how much they cost.

Carmina shell cordovan wingtips arrived today. Scuffed 'em when I tried to use a pair of scissors as a makeshift shoehorn in my excitement to try them on. :(:(:(

Bro. Have you tried any shoes with rain last before?
I was actually hesitant in getting it because i had slight heel slip in my navy wholecuts in Rain. But this pair fit perfectly. In my opinion I've got narrowish feet. But after a good few pairs of carmina, i find rain 8.5 and simpson 9 is perfect. Don't worry about the EE fit. I've asked Betty. ALL their shoes in Rain last are EE. So if you are Ok in a particular rain sizing. You will likely be Ok with the others. Don't worry when the website specifies "EE width comfortable fit". They aren't crazy wide.
I probably got heel slip earlier cos i feel that wholecuts fit a bit looser than other oxfords.
