I see, where do you guys recommend getting from then along with subscription etc(if any)? And is it a good replacement for mio TV?
My parents watch it all day long, dunno which channel but it's those chinese reality show, singing, matchmaking stuff and of course, the news. Was hoping I can replace it with something cheaper.

I recommend to get it from taobao, if you don't have taobao account, get agent to buy for you, e.g 65daigou. It should be less than $80 including shipping for the latest model.

I guess the shows your parents are watching are those from china and taiwan. You don't have to subscribe, there is a free HDPlive apk, just install it and they can watch for the whole day.

However, if your parents are old and can't learn new things fast, it is better to get a box with number pads on remote control. It is easier for them to switch to the new box, because they still can press the number to go to the channels, same as starhub/mio remote. Xiaomi Box's remote doesn't have number pad.

depends on the channels.

Most of the channels from taiwan and china are free.

Try free apk first, subscribe later if you can't find the channels you want in the free apk. Don't have to get it at the same time.

No. You need only 4-5Mbps for most of the 1080p video.

If lagging, it is the source problem. You can overcome it by using the right apks.

Can Pm the correct apks to me? I'm on M1 200mbps fiber and it lags like hell. Have install 沙发管家 and 电视必备 and install the recommended apks like HDP, youku etc....but all of them lags...

I don't think it's corrupted, you need to set system language to Chinese to use it.

Probably better invest in a Logitech k400 keyboard.

Yes you need the USB driver for Mi Box installed. Had my drivers installed when I installed Shuame.

Though root did not work with Shuame, it helped with the driver. I just uninstalled it after getting the drivers working.
