Oh ok that's sounds good. Will go check that thread as well. Bro you got mibox ?

No.

My minimum requirements for TV box are:
- Dualcore or better
- at least 2 USB ports.
- One SDcard slot.
- 8GB nand/emmc.
- wireless or wired LAN. Better if have both
- Rooted or easy to root

Xiaomi 1s is out, doesn't meet most of the requirements, the latest enhanced version is much better, but still a bit short.

Your other choices - CS918 and the Mini X8H are OK for me.

Hey all, i'm looking at getting an android tv box for my slightly old but hd ready tv, cos i can't seem to watch normal free to air tv (extremely rusted tv point, no idea how to fix it).

Seen quite a bit of good and bad comments on the XM Tv box on Qoo10 but wondering if anyone who got it fairly recently has anything good/bad to share? e.g. on the free or 'free' premium channels streaming or viewing feedback.

TIA.

anybody tried using mibox 3 icntv successfully with viewqwest freedom vpn?

I just now try using flyvpn super laggy... then after disconnected flyvpn can run iCNTV liao. Donno if I have found the loophole or iCNTV still fixing their geolock. Anybody got their mibox geolock can confirm?

What firmware?

Hi guys,

Bought the earlier groupon xiaomi few months ago.
Today I saw they were selling it again.
This time round was jailbroken (or rooted for Android I guess) and preloaded with English UI.

The one I bought was not jailbroken and came with the default Chinese UI.

Anyone knows where I can find this english UI firmware?

Thanks

bro, can i check what's the difference, Mibox is also android os? won't it be the same? Does Himedia hd600a have preloaded apks that can be plugged in and play and is then more suited to non-techie ppl?

I know some set up is not that easy to configure eg xbmc. I tried on my tablet. managed to get some channels but still takes time and not that easy.

Himedia has a few preloaded apks.

It is very easy to install additional apks even for non-techie. Basically just need plug in a thumbdrive with the apks, the box will automatically prompt you for the next action.

Mi-box is designed to be plug and play, it comes with a few apks and it is OK if the apks meet you needs. It is harder for non-techie to modify the box.

XBMC is a different story. Even some techie find it hard to configure and use. Its UIs are quite difference and takes some time to learn.

Bro Greg, wouldn't this also be true for mibox ? I'm not partial to buying either one, since both pricing and specs of these 2 boxes the same. So I'm curious why hd600a is better choice.

I follow the above blogspot wan.

I tried to follow the instructions but got stuck at the server address. Couldn't find a valid one to connect to. Which address u use for china server? The password and id is the 2 posted on the website right?

Edit. I manage to connect to one server but 认证 fails. Need to change other settings on mibox after connecting to the vpn?

Anybody kind enough to provide instructions/links to rooting the latest 3rd gen MiBox?
Basically allow the box to run a clean android OS with Playstore

Greatly appreciated.
