Just wanna say that i bought a 32gb black mi5 from Smartcell @ Toa Payoh. It came with a fake ROM (V7.3.3.0.0), and being the suaku that i am, i had used it for a good 1 - 2 months before updating it to the current global ROM. It started downloading weird apps, and had a lot of weird adverts as well. Soon, the moment i unlocked my phone in the morning, the browser will load up and show me taobao.com. Hope this helps anyone looking to buy the phone.

Hi All,

Managed to flash my fake ROM to global v7.5.2.0 using the unlock method. Weird thing is that those installed apps (i.e. weibo etc) still exist and my wifi setting still there. Is that normal? I thought flashing the global rom will be like reformatting the whole phone and starting new? Let me know

i don't think there are such things as fake rom, maybe just custom rom.

Yup custom rom but some do refer it as fake rom. Anyway, i'm an ios user and thought that flashing a rom is like restoring with itunes where everything will be wiped out.I have since did a phone reset to wiped out all data. I just wanted to know if this is normal and my flashing is indeed correct. Cheers

most likely it's because you had save your settings to google. and when you signed in your google account on the freshly reflash rom, some of your settings are restored.

Did you choose "Flash all"?
Default is flash all except storage.

don't understand what you want but if you want a clean OS, just do a "flash all" and the weibo and wifi setting will be gone.

Sorry... what I meant is after "flash all except storage", I did a factory data reset from the phone setting. Will that be the same result as "flash all"? Reason I didnt just do "flash all" again is that I dont have a windows pc, will have to go to friend's place to do it. thanks
